The Melton Bloods are pleased to announce Michael Licciardo has been appointed as our Under 19’s coach for the 2019 season.
Licciardo returns to MacPherson Park after spending two seasons with the club as a playing assistant with our senior team during 2016 and 2017. In the 2017 season, he was also an assistant with the Ballarat Football League’s interleague team.
He moved to East Keilor this year to finish his playing days with a few close mates but has decided to call time on his playing career and move into the next phase as a coach.
Football manager Brad Jamison is pleased to have Licciardo back at the club and believes he will fit in well with the strong coaching panel that was in place this year. “We identified early on that Licca would make an excellent coach, particularly with the development of younger players. During his two years at the club we were able to give him a taste of coaching with an assistant role and the interleague role. The club looks like it will have a strong group of Under 19 players for the 2019 season and Licca is the ideal person to get them ready for their senior football careers”.
The Ballarat Football League restructure in 2019 season will see the competition move from Under 18.5s to Under 19s, while the Junior arm of the club which competes in the RDFL will remain at Under 17s.
This year’s Under 18.5 coach Bob Heaney will continue in his assistant coaching role with the Senior team in the 2019 season.
