EPDBA Reappoint SBL Head Coaches for 2017 Season

East Perth Eagles have big plans for the 2017 season starting with the reappointment of Narelle Henry as the Schweigen WSBL Head Coach and Joe-Alan Tupaea as the Vorian Agency MSBL Head Coach. Both teams are set to rebuild with some exciting plans for 2017.
The Vorian Agency Eagles are only too aware of Joe’s amazing basketball career; with 400 SBL games, nine Grand Finals across his 16 seasons including four SBL Championships at Perry Lakes Hawks before securing his fifth title with the East Perth Eagles in 2014 with an MVP performance. The Vorian Agency Eagles also believe it is Joe’s core family values which make him such an exciting prospect as a head coach and are confident that his first year as a player coach with East Perth is only the start of great things.
Likewise, the Schweigen Lady Eagles are excited about the reappointment of Narelle Henry for her third season at the helm. Narelle, a well-credentialed award winning coach was also incredible player. After debuting as a 15-year-old and playing for the East Perth Eagles back in 1998 and 1999 she played NCAA Basketball before a very successful WNBL career. Again, the Schweigen Lady Eagles are excited about the outstanding leadership and morals that Narelle brings to the team. Narelle is a great role model in the community. It is not a secret that everything that could go wrong in the 2016 season did and Managing Director Anthony Fletcher was quick to point out that never was this offered as an excuse by Henry. Barely a week after the season had finished she was discussing how she was going to make it better and told Fletcher, “She and her coaching team have some exiting plans”.
The two coaches are also working on long term plans for club. Both coaches are currently working with the club’s Development Director Carl Filpo on exciting post season development sessions for the club’s youth players that will involve NBL/SBL great Roland Brooks with Henry herself hands on with clubs emerging young women.
After a hard season the Eagles are confident that exciting things await.
