Lang Park is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Bill Ellis as the GBL Gold Ladies Coach.
Bill will spend time during the rest of the current season with the team and current coach Mr Murry Aldred.
We are excited by the prospect of the contribution Bill will make to the future of our flagship senior women's team. The team has gone to the GBL Grand Final consistently over the past 9 years, with its current phase suiting up more of our younger girls who are coming through. The potential for this team as Murry moves onto future committments will now safely be in Bill's hands.
Bill has built a great reputation at Lang Park since 2011 with our program for Junior Boys teams through to 2016 where he began coaching our Under 15 Girls. He is currently Head Coach of Lang Park's Under 17 Women.
Outside of the home club, Bill's coaching experience in his basketball career includes top level roles in the State level QBL competition and in previous CBL competitions, playing for Rockhampton Rockets, Cairns Marlins, and Coach of the Cairns Dolphins.
He has also coached the University of Queensland Men's team to place second in the state and then coached the University of Queensland Women's team who impressivley achieved National Champions status.
At the Greater Brisbane League Level in this premier competition of the Brisbane Basketball Association, Bill has taken the West Brisbane Basketball Club Men's and Women's teams respectively to achieve top results, which of course might be our opposition however we are very happy to say this in now Lang Park's gain.
The Brisbane Capitals Junior Representative program and its players have also benefited from the expertise Bill has to offer while he has coached in recent years Under 15 Boys, Under 16 Boys, Under 20 Men and Under 19 Women, taking this later team through to winning State Champions.
Lang Park the club, our GBL Women and the Sub-Committee welcome Bill as our new coach of the GBL Womens Lang Park Gold Team!
