Fly Like An Eagle

Good Monday Eagles,

As per requested this weeks email is an earlier installment than usual.

"Mid Canterbury Eagles 10.5.65 defeated Christchurch Bulldogs 6.12.48. Bulldogs simply not good enough against a desperate Eagles team" - Bulldogs Facebook page (2011)

That's right, the Eagles knocked over the defending champs this week. Only the second time the Bulldogs have gone down in two and a half years. It's about time those fairies got taught a lesson. The Eagles came out firing taking an early lead and not letting it slip for the full 80. Well done boys.

Highs:

  • Won
  • After taking a knock on the mellon, Burr decided to go ape shit and score 57 goals in a dominant display
  • Seeing the dirty dirty dirty look on Toddys face made my night. What a great loser.
  • Maintaining a lead for the whole game
  • Joel's wonderful drunken commentary after turning up with a pharmacy and liquor store combining in his veins to curious effect**

Lows:

  • Letting the grip a little bit loose in the third quarter and start of final quarter...but then stormed back to smash the 'doggies' in the last 15 mins
  • Joel's commentary wouldn't stop

Dick of the day:
Joel - I have never seen anyone laking the ability to talk like Joel on Saturday...and this was before kick off. What a mess. The good news was he sobered up slightly through the day after keeping his fluids up with a nice bottle of mudhouse. Consequently, the bulldogs are gay and had a massive moan about George trying to keep fresh with a swig of the fine 2010 vintage. Go cry somewhere else you big girls blouse, surely a boozed Whitehead should be an aid to you, even though its not really an uncommon occurrence. Dicks.

This week:
Part of the reason emails are usually not Monday, is because I don't know anything about the next game, but we'll see how this goes while I have a stab...

Time: 2:30pm
Opposition: 'University' Cougars
Location: Northwood Park, Belfast

Although we managed to edge the top of the table Bulldogs we still need to win this game to move ahead of the Cougars. Lets make a repeat of our half time boat race result and wipe the floor with these pretenders (I'm not sure what happened in the other boat races, rumor has it they didn't exist). There are also whispers that old Eagle and NZ rep Stan van Chungy is returning for this game...although he was slightly steamed watching Tonga deal to France in the best stadium in the country at the time of his promise...

Training:
Training will remain at 5:30pm on Thursday at Middleton Park. It'll be good to see a really good turnout as selections are based on training attendance and subs.

Subs:
I understand there are still a few out there that haven't coughed up their clams. Come on you tight bastards, loosen those purse strings

Returning players: $50.00
New players: $70.00 includes shorts

Subs can be paid online to 03-1351-0475766-00  -  MID CANTERBURY AFL CLUB
Please put your Initial and last name as the reference ie if you happen to be a Bulldog player you'd put I.Smokepole

Social report #2:
Our faithful captain Cardens missus got hit on by a bulldog this weekend. His pick up line was "Hi there, my names James Stevenson, I play AFL". After been politely told to go molest a kitten, he was heard to tell his mate about how he was "pre-dating" one lucky lady. According to Mr.Stevenson, pre-dating is where you take a girl out on dates, even though your not official and she's still rooting some other dude. Top work dick.

Just a little more material for next time we meet the Bulldogs.
