Eagles to take on Lightning!! (Metaphorically)

With this weekend's "Lightening Round" of short AFL warm up games soon to be upon us, the team here at Eagles AFC thought that now would be a good time to catch up with Eagles president  Rick van Olphen (sweaty) to get his thoughts on the upcoming season. "This season holds no fear for us" boomed van Olphen emphatically. "The current crop of players contains a solid mix of battle hardened war horses, and exciting new prospects, we're looking for some top results."

For those uninitiated with the concept, the Lightening Round is a one day tournament where 3 teams in the competition play 2 games of short duration to determine a winner. This may just be a format where the Eagles unpredictable razzle dazzle footy of the past will shine.

This year the Eagles will be looking to those aforementioned "war horses" such as the effervescent Phillip J Don and rock solid Grizz Kelly to step up and weave their magic. One of the major talking points amongst the Eagles faithful is what new young buck will step up to fill the large boots vacated by James Whitehead after his departure last year. Whitehead was one of the driving forces on field for the Eagles, and all involved wait with baited breath for the seasons opener to see who will step up in his absence.

So undoubtedly this season holds plenty of action for anyone who dares to step into the swirling cauldron that is Eagles AFL.

Up the Eagles!!!
