ROUND SEVEN WRAP UP

All photos submitted can be found on our website in the ROUND SEVEN 2018 folder. And thank you to our team managers for assisting with match wrap ups.

Roys

Our little tackers were at it again running their little hearts out down at Northshore this week. The weather gods were on our side albeit it a bit fresh to start with. Regan was on fire this week revving the kids up with some pre match warm up activities. Many of the kids experienced kicking their first goal playing footy and were so proud of themselves just as their family and friends were.  The smiles were priceless. Keep it up little Roys, we love seeing your skills and enjoyment of the game  develop each week.

U8 White

Versed U8 Blue at home. It was an emotional day. Weather was great and a special thank s to Ryan Fowler (U10 White) assisting with the mornings ground marshall duties but he also offered to umpire the U8s show down.

Stand out performances were Isaac (blue) and James (white). Both showed great improvement and committment.

It was a show case of goal snapping, torps and long bombs. Ethan B got one from nearly 25m out.

The kids played a great game this round against Maroochydore Skippies. Captain of the week, Molly put in a strong performance and received a player award. It was great to see Lili, in only her third game, tackling and getting her hands on the ball and receiving a player award. Well done girls. A huge thanks as always to our wonderful parents for their support. Well done team!

Took on the Maroochydore Joeys on a warm morning on the heavy second track at Coolum High. Wal came fired up following a tough game last week and encouraged the kids to tackle in packs... and tackle they did!! This week Wal coached a more positional style and had most kids playing set roles for the entire game and they really thrived with this approach.

Down the backs Josh was huge for us and set the standard for the team's work rate while Bryce left the opposition in his tracks time and time again with his side step.

In the midfield Jai really found his groove in the ruck and Levi dominated the clearances while Remi tackled hard from start ro finish.

Up forward Elijah created gret forward pressure to keep the ball close to home and Harvey capitalised on his teammates great work with 3 goals.

Big thanks to Sasha who cleaned and folded al the guernseys and has created a run sheet to ensure all the kids get their favourite numbers each week. Thanks also to Jules for the oranges and Tim and Randell for their work behind the goals. Special mention to Molly (Jacks sister) who umpired the whole game and did a great job!!!

Overall Wals focus on team spirit continued to shine through and a great day was had by all.

Awards for the day went to Josh and Harvey.

The team headed south yesterday to Caloundra to take on the Panthers. Unfortunately we only had 17 players, and despite borrowing a player from the Panthers it felt like we had a hole that couldn't be filled. We started with plenty of ball time in our forward 50 metres but we just couldn't convert until the second quarter with a goal from Jasper. Some great efforts by individuals with some running from the back lines followed by priceless pieces of play as our boys made strong leads and our kicks were hitting their targets transferring the ball into the our attacking lines. Indeed the backlines fought long and hard all day. Our second goal came in the last quarter with a nice piece of play coming out of the half back line. Whilst we were defeated today, I think the ball spent an equal amount of time in our forward lines as it did in the backlines and so it was just a matter of not being able to make the final links. Best on ground went to Chaise for stand out effort and rock solid wall building. Runner up went to Hudson for some great clearances from the backline. The coaches award went to Ethan who was moved around the paddock alot and performed well with whatever the coaches asked of him. We will get the Panthers next time we meet.
