Out with the 10's ... In with the 9's

After last year's (2015) overhall of age groups our friends at AFLSC have seen it in their wisdom to remove the Under 10 age group on trial in 2016 and in its place we will see an Under 9 competition instead.

So in 2016 (and maybe thereafter) boys and girls will start their AFL experience via Auskick, then move through to the Under 6 program, then Under 8's, Under 9's, Under 11's and so on.

Oh - and they have changed the age cut offs for U8's so get your calculators out :)

Change to Age Group Eligibility – Under 8s

Please note that the AFL have advised that the entry level date of birth for the Under 8 Competition has been amended for season 2016.

Players must turn seven (7) years of age by 30 June 2016, to be eligible to player Under 8s in season 2016.

Players born post 1 July 2009 are eligible to play in the Under 6 Match Program

We are sure once we all start again in March that the kids will have heaps of fun playing with their friends and rehashing the big game over a bucket of chips or snag sandwich, but just wanted to let everyone know in advance
