Time to Heed the Call & Put Your Hand Up

Below is an open letter from our President seeking 3-4 people to put their hand up to help in 2016 - No, it won't be the "other guy or girl" who will do it because that's what everyone assumes.

To our Breakers players, parents & friends,

With season 2015 coming to an end its time to start thinking about 2016 and beyond for our great club.

Our committee has been really pleased with the achievements of our club this year ranging from strong numbers in all age groups, our first ever Under 6 team, multiple district, regional & State players and of course the completion of our own facilities amongst others. The year was capped off nicely with participation of our 4 senior teams in the finals, 3 individual AFLSC league best & fairest medals, runners up and the coveted AFLSC "Club of the Year" award.

This being the case I feel its the right time to step back my involvement with the club and will not be re-nominating for the Presidents role for season 2016. After 7 years as either coach, President, Vice President and committee member its time for my family and employment to take priority. Its time for some fresh faces to pick up and continue to drive our club to greater heights. We have come along way but there is still many things to do.

The Breakers deserve to have a good even spread of volunteers running our club from all age groups, not necessarily just coaches, but people who can see the benefit of #oneclub not just particular age groups. As we are fully aware clubs do not run themselves and require parents to put their hand up. We are in a fortunate position where a lot of current committee members will still have children playing for the Breakers for a number of years so intellectual property will not be lost to the club and always available to guide the direction going forward.

We encourage all parents to consider what you can do for your club moving forward and look forward to seeing you all at this years AGM (date & location to be advised) and becoming committee members for season 2016 and beyond.

Please do not hesitate to contact me or any committee members with any further queries you may have.

Lynden Griffiths
President 2015
