No Fairy Tale Finishes for Great Breakers Teams
There was a sea of Breakers Shirts at Fishermans Road for the big Grand Final day that saw our Breakers Under 13s and 15s take to the oval to try and grab a Premiership.
A big thanks to all those from families who didnt have a Breaker in one of the teams, your support of our great club was noticed and appreciated!
At 9am we saw the first Breakers Banner of the day as our Under 13's ran out to try and re-produce the second semi final performance by knocking over Bribie Island.
Buckets had fallen overnight and the wet and blustery conditions made it tough going for both teams.
Coolum opened up against the breeze with a fantastic quarter and charged in for the footy and used it well by foot when clear.
Kicking with the wind in the second we seemed to lose a bit by kicking long (logically) and werent able to avoid the big 14 year olds as effectively.
The third belonged to Bribie as the ball was camped in their forward line but again Coolum was magnificent in the many contests that the slippery windy conditions caused. A late goal to the Breakers saw us only 5 points down at 3/4 time and with the growing breeze there was great hope.
In the last quarter we again had our chances and there were some fantastic efforts that almost saw Coolum get over the line but ultimately it was a heartbreaking 1 point loss when the final siren blew.
It really was a great game with both sides charging in, very few high tackles as every player just wanted to get the slippery sherrin.
Well done Breakers Under 13's on a great season and a great game!

Again just before 1pm a Breakers banner was raised again as Coolum's Under 15s take to the main oval trying to beat the table topping Caloundra in 2 out of 2 finals, after going down to them twice in the minor round.
Kicking with the aid of the strong breeze our Breakers often charged forward but points were the order of the day - not goals - and Caloundra had hit the ground running to make it a great contest.
The second quarter was a win for Coolum as theoretically Caloundra could have burst away and had the game sewn up at the long break but our Breakers were heroic in defending and rebounding and limited the damage to a 2 point deficit at half time.
The Panthers were again on the money in the third and while we were still in it with a quarter to go, it would be a win for the ages if the boys pulled it off.
At times as we penetrated deep into our forwards, and twice we kicked goals to ignite the spark, our opposition had enough answers to take the game by 11 points.
Final Scores: Coolum Beach 4.14 (38) dftd by Caloundra 7.7 (49)
Inaccuarcy, illness, the breeze - I dont think we need to make any excuses as the boys had a real crack and all at Breakerland are proud of you.
