Breakers Tackle Winter Footy With Exciting Finishes

In the first round of AFL to be played in this winter, Breakers HQ hosted all of our teams bar the 13s (North Shore) and 15s (bye) in a huge schedule of matches with our Under 13s playing out a draw versus the Jets and our 11's beating top side Caloundra by 2 points.

Bit of a grab bag of all teams photos this week but more to come soon - CLICK HERE for early shots

After taking on the Maroochydore Roos last week, our Mighty Breakers Under 6's learned more about Australian fauna as they met the Maroochy Kangas on Sunday at CHS .

This great little team was a bit short with log weekend travel commitments but is still improving rapidly each week and boy will they all be ready for Under 8 footy when its their time - in the "old days" our Breakers had to learn all this stuff at U8 level!

At 9am the smell of latte's filled the air as our two Under 8 teams (Blue & Red) took on Nooosa Red and Blue on the adjacent main ovals at Breakerland.-fortuitouslythey also nice and close to the canteen :)

The visitors were tigerish as always but were met by great Breakers team play from our two fantastic Under 8 teams - the scorers recorded a 1 point win to a Coolum team and a 1 point win by a Noosa team but failed to tell us which was which!

Well done to both teams

At 10am the ovals were lengthened as the big boys of the Under 10's entered the arena with our Breakers U10 Blue taking on Noosa Red and our Coolum Reds taking on Noosa Blue in games of harmonious colour interaction.

Noosa is a club with a big population to draw from and had many talented players but our Coolum teams looked super keen as they tore in for the footy and used handball to free the ball from congestion.

The U10 Blues took on a particularly strong Noosa Red but should be encooraged that they are still winning ball so don't worry about the (imaginary) scoreboard kids and just have fun and get a kick

At 11am our Breakers Under 11's ran out to face the top team Caloundra and waht an epic match it was.

In the windy conditions the Panthers kicked out to a 14 point quarter time lead but our Breakers were still working hard and turned it around in the second.

By 3/4 time Caloundra led by 7 points and when they kicked the first goal of the last quarter it looked like they might pull away.

But in true Breakers style our mighty U11s fought back and peppered the goals to kick 2.4 including a last gasp goal to Jack S to take the choccies by 2 points!. Well done all!

From Andrew: A fantastic  & nail biting 2 point win!

At Mudjimba our 7th placed Breakers Under 13s faced the home North Shore Jets team who sat in 6th place and also enjoyed nearly double our Breakers percentage

In an epic encounter that saw Coolum take the early lead, a late surge from the Jets evened up the match and in the exciting final minutes our Breakers learned what its like to not win or lose. Great effort to all though

Final Scores: Coolum Beach 4.7 (31) drew North Shore 4.7 (31)

Goals: Tanner Griffiths – 2, Tom Akeroyd – 1, Zach Anderson – 1

Best: Dash Myers, Nathan Evitts, Tanner Griffiths, Grant Turner Dawes, Lachie Forsythe, Toby Mai

Back at CHS our Under 15 Girls took on 6th placed Nambour and at half time it was Coolum in a strong position leading 7 goals to 2 and looking good - still no final scores but our girls ended up winning by about 18 points

At 2pm at Breakers HQ both Coolum and Mountain Creek faced off having both only lost 1 game for the season. In trhe end it was the vistors who recorded a 61 to 38 win

Our Under 15 team had the bye this week.
