From Gympie to Caloundra - This Week's Breakers Update

MORE TO COME but the oil barons were the big winners on the weekend as our Breakers travelled far and wide for a kick in what was a great round of footy for most of our teams.

In another piece of history at Breakerland, this week we fielded TWO Under 6 teams as Coolum High saw North Shore and Caloundra brave enough to venture to take on the might of our 5 and 6 year olds!

As you would suspect they were two bruising contests with our youngest Breakers giving no quarter but in the end ... damn - forgot to keep scores

Up in the heavy weight division of Under 8's, our Blue team travelled to play the Kawana Falcons where reports are that it was a high quality match with both teams contributing to the highlight reel.

Our Breakers Under 8 Reds were at Fishermans Road taking on the Maroochydore Kangas at 9am and it is amazing how much these kids have already grown in confidence and skills - bouncing the ball and selling candy already? get outa here! :)

There was plenty of navy, red & white at Fishermans Road on Sunday as our Under 8s were followed by both our Under 10 teams playing at 10am with the Blues taking on the Skippys and the Reds the Kangas with marsupials everywhere.

Our Red team continues to show strong form and our Mighty Blues look great when they play confident footy and get in and get the ball. Well done both teams.

Back at Coolum High at 10am, our Breaker Under 11s came up against the very strong Kawana Park and if there is such a things as an awesome loss then then this was it! In the end it was Kawana by 3 points.

The difference in our Breaker Under 11s from last week to Sunday was huge as every player charged in to every contest with bravery and confidence.

Coolum players supported each other with good shepherds, great hand passes and good passing by boot.

The sort of AFL the team played today was just great and everyone should be very proud of your efforts

Coach Andrew reported

Straight after the 11s saw the big boys in our Under 15's run on to take on Noosa with big Tom Ansell out of the game looking after his ribs and neck following a tangle with a goal post, ambulance and hospital food last Sunday.

It ended with a very impressive 18.8 (116) to 5.1 (31) victory on the back of some great linking up team work, good movement into the forward line and being hard and smart in the packs.

Noosa had some players out too and will be better next time but our Breakers got the job done clinically and with more discipline.

Our Under 13's were finally graded into a competition where they will experience wins and losses not thumping 25+ goal losses every week.

On Sunday Russell's team took on Kawana at Kawana and they recorded a great, narrow victory in difficult conditions

Coolum defeated Kawana Park Gold – 30 to 12.

Best: Lachie Astley, Dash Myers, Lachie Forsythe, Zane Harrison, Nathan Evitts, Callum Hughes / Tanner Griffiths

Goals: Lachie Astley – 4, Zach Anderson – 1

Chelsea's Under 15 Girls (4th placed) headed to Caloundra to take on the third placed Panthers, and from those who came back to CHS they all agreed that Caloundra were the better team but that our girls had really had a crack and could hold their heads high.

Final scores as soon as we get them

And finally it was our lucky Under 18 girls team that was scheduled to play Gympie at 9am and we haven't sighted the carrier pidgeon yet but will pass on scores as soon as he arrives!
