SOCIAL MEDIA RESPONSIBILITY REMINDER

AFL QLD is concerned about the increasing number of complaints being made about the unacceptable use of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social networking sites by people involved as players or officials with AFL QLD.

Our own club has seen games missed by suspension resulting from a social media infringement.

In other instances around the State, there are examples where the sites have been used to bully footballers, to criticise umpires or to make racist or sexist remarks about other participants. This type of behaviour is totally unacceptable in Australian Football and will not be tolerated.

Under AFLQ's Reports and Tribunals regulations, behaviour which is unacceptable can be brought to a Tribunal even if the behaviour did not occur on the field. AFLQ have no hesitation in referring to the Tribunal the misuse of social networking sites if it relates to Australian Football under the jurisdiction of AFL Queensland.

You might even think thatr comments made on your own page shared only with a few mates are safe, but if those comments are shared they become "public comment" and then the cat is out of the bag.

All members of Maroochy Roos Junior AFC (including family members) are to be mindful of this policy.

If you have any questions please speak to your age coordinator or any member of the committee

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
