Premier League Defensive Duo Sign

Papatoetoe AFC is excited to announce the signings of former Eastern Suburbs AFC defenders Eammon O’Brien and Tavis Gravatt for the 2016 season.  Both players have played at Northern Premier League level and been involved in Chatham Cup Finals.  They will bring to Papatoetoe AFC their proven experience, skill and a winning mentality.

Eammon played for Eastern Suburbs under the guidance of Papatoetoe Coach Mark Holt and was a key part in their push for promotion.  On signing for the Reds, Eammon said, “I’m looking forward to linking up again with Mark at Papatoetoe AFC.  I will be able to bring my experience to the club and pass on my knowledge.  Mark is the type of coach who doesn’t leave any stone unturned and will test players to their limits.  The way he likes his teams to play football is enjoyable to be part of and players want to give him everything.”

Coach Mark Holt on the signing said, “Eammon is the complete package - an aggressive defender, good in the air, has pace, good distribution with his feet, along with being a good leader and a real personality off the park.  I signed him a few games into the season in 2014 and he became part of an impressive defensive unit that lead the side to promotion.  I’m wrapped that he has signed for Papatoetoe.”

Tavis also comes from a Northern Premier League background with Three Kings United and Suburbs.  He was in the Three Kings United side that unfortunately lost 2-1 to Wellington Olympic in the 2009 Chatham Cup Final.  He said on signing for Papatoetoe, “I am looking forward to playing for Papatoetoe AFC, I really enjoyed playing for Mark at Eastern Suburbs.  I had been in discussion with Mark a lot about what he was trying to achieve last year and now I feel is a good time to join the club.  The type of players he is looking to attract will add value to the club.”

Coach Mark Holt on the signing said, “Tavis is the type of player every side needs. He is a player that keeps everyone’s standards high.  He is a listener and learner, if you give Tavis a game plan he will follow it perfectly and have the team on the same page.  A lot of time Tavis won’t get the recognition he deserves because he is such a team player.”
Papatoetoe AFC would like to extend a warm welcome to both signings and we look forward to having them on-board for the 2016 season.
