Registration and Trial Information

For the 2012 season registrations will take place in all grades prior to trials. The reason for this was that last year sorting out teams became difficult as some people hadn’t registered and as we didn’t have records of them it became difficult to track them down.

Trials for ALL TOP Team positions

For all of our top teams, trials will take place in front of our Director of Football (DOF). Wherever possible top team coaches will be appointed before the trials and will confer with the DOF as to the team make up after he has made his tentative team selections.

A training squad will be formed that will ultimately make up the top 2 teams. The 2 top team coaches will then be tasked with training the squad for some 2-3 weeks after which the 2 teams will be announced.

The DOF will have made a selection of who he believes should be in the top team and this will only be known to the 2 coaches. Their brief will be then to train the squad and observe the players and after the 2-3 weeks they can then confirm the top 2 teams. In most cases it will be the team that the DOF has selected but the idea is that over the 2-3 weeks of training the 2 coaches can then determine if the selections are correct and to see if anyone who perhaps didn’t shine at the trials shows that they should be in the team.

With consultation between the 2 coaches and the DOF 1 or 2 changes to the team may be made. In the event of any dispute the DOF will visit and observe the training and players in question and make a final decision.

This also allows for any players that couldn’t make the trials or late to registering players, new to the club, the opportunity to train alongside the 2 teams and allow the coaches to observe them for consideration.

Any disputes must be in writing to the respective Grade Delegate who will then discuss the matter with the Football Committee and the DOF.

Players that have come from other clubs will be asked that if successful in being selected for our top team, to commit to joining the club to ensure that team makeup’s are not compromised.

For our Metro and top teams there may be a requirement during the season to call on players from the second team to play in the first team due to illness, injury or unavailability of first team players. Players cannot play more than 3 games in a row for the higher grade otherwise they are then considered part of that squad and cannot play in the lower grade team for the remainder of the season.

The number of players used from the second team cannot be such that it leaves the second team without substitutions. If there is a need for more players which will leave the second team with no substitutes then the Grade Delegate must be contacted who will then discuss with the Football Committee and the DOF to make a decision.

If any player knows at team selection stage or within the next 2-3 weeks of the team being selected that they will be unavailable for an extended period of time during the season then they are to inform the Grade Delegate, e.g. if a player is going overseas for 3 to 6 weeks during the season.

Trials for positions in ALL OTHER Teams

Trials for positions in all other teams will take place in front of the DOF and the Football Committee. Players wishing to stay in the same team from the previous year with the same coach still need to trial with that team so that other players can be matched with the other players in the team and fill any vacancies. It is important that if players and coaches want to stay with the same team that this is communicated to that Grade Delegate.

Players that trialled for Top Team positions but were unsuccessful in gaining spots in those teams will be asked to come and trial to fill positions in the next tier level of teams.
