ECB 1 Birkenhead United 2 played 26 August 2017 at Bays City Park

Once again, failure to convert chances cost Bays in their final game of the season.
In what was an even encounter, Birkenhead were first out of the blocks with Harry Bolton-Roberts and Roussin Nkoy both testing Liam Anderson early.
Bays responded and the pressure almost caused an own goal with Eman Darkwa’s hasty clearance just scraping over the crossbar.more

Central United 4 ECB 1 played 19 August 2017 at Kiwitea St

Despite the scoreboard, it was quite an even game with one significant difference. In front of goal, Bays were wasteful, while Central were clinical.
Bays should have taken the lead within two minutes, a Liam Andersen drive was too close to the keeper and turned for a corner.more

ECB 1 Onehunga Sports 2 played 12 August 2017 at Bays City Park

This was an arm-wrestle from start to finish, decided in the end by two penalties, the first harsh, the second a complete travesty.

Bays and Onehunga Sports have a history with penalty decisions this season with Sports getting a decision in the first game for what took place a metre outside the area which proved decisive in wrapping up the game for them.

Bay Olympic 2 ECB 4 played 29 July 2017 at Olympic Park, New Lynn

ECB 2 Forrest Hill Milford 1 played 22 July 2017 at Bays City Park

Two great strikes from Dillon Barnett and Tom Damon saw off Forrest Hill Milford in the local derby and moved Bays further up the ladder.
Both teams needed the points, so it was al on from the start with Jacob Spoonley called upon to save from Dylan Stansfield.
The aftermath of the winter storm meant heavy rain at regular intervals making playing conditions uncomfortablemore

Glenfield Rovers 1 ECB 1 played 15 July 2017 at McFetridge Park, Glenfield

Fiercest of rivals on the field, best of friends off it. Many of the players involved have either played for both clubs or have played together in rep teams throughout the grades.
After a cautious opening, the first half settled down to a dour struggle with neither side creating much nor giving anything away. A 0-0 score at halftime summed up perfectly.more

ECB 1 Manurewa 0 played 1 July 2017 at Bays City Park

It was an awful day with a strong northerly and intermittent showers. Conditions not great for good football. There wasn’t much of that as both teams battled the conditions.

Bays started with the wind at their backs and had the first strike on goal from David Mulligan which the wind carried over the crossbar. Manurewa made a brief foray but Pablo Yackson was blocked, more

East Coast Bays bowed out of the Chatham Cup after going down to current holders Birkenhead United 3-1 at Bays City Park.

Three Kings first attempt on goal saw Ed Sillars head over the crossbar in a half dominated by Bays.more

Hamilton Wanderers 0 ECB 3 played 10 June 2017 at Porritt Stadium, Hamilton

A Judd Baker first half double plus a late strike from Chris Riley meant a welcome league win and three valuable points as well as a happy trip back from Hamilton.
Bays were up for it straight from the kick off and the beautiful playing surface at Porritt Park was made for good football. In the opening minutes both Tom Damon and Baker had tested the Wanderers defencemore

Chatham Cup: Lynn Avon 3 ECB 7 played 5 June 2017 at Ken Maunder Park

A Zane Olla first half hat trick, plus goals from David Mulligan, Tom Damon and Dillon Barnett set up East Coast Bays for a comfortable victory over Lynn Avon in Round 2 of the Chatham Cup.

Waitakere City 2 ECB 1 played 3 June 2017 at Fred Taylor Park, Waitakere

There were two magical moments in this game. The first was a 30 metre screamer hit by Tommy Damon that broke Bays four match scoreless streak. The second a 79th minute jinking run by Waitakere’s Dylan Manickum that left a swarth of Bays players in his wake finished off by a superbly placed strike that gave Waitakere the points.

Bays started well putting early pressure on Waitakeremore

ECB 0 Eastern Suburbs 1 played 27 May 2017 at Bays City Park

Suburbs defended well and Bays have forgotten how to score goals so a minor defensive error cost points, putting Bays in relegation territory.
The first 35 minutes saw play go from end to end but neither defence was ever under any pressure as both attacking sides were well off target.
Then in the 36th minute, Dylan Bull broke through the Bays defence, Liam Anderson came out and parried the shotmore

ECB 0 Central United 3 played 20 May 2017 at Bays City Park

A classy hat trick by Armin Pasagic ensured Central went home with three points.

The loss of Kieran McMinn to injury just short of the half hour was a blow to already limited attacking options against a Central side closely restored to full strength with the addition of Auckland City players.more

Birkenhead United 4 ECB 0 played 13 May 2017 at Shepherds Park

A second half capitulation saw Bays slump to their second consecutive defeat in which they have failed to score.

It all started well with both sides trading blows early in the game. Dan Morgan had a free kick blocked by the defensive wall and Liam Anderson saving comfortably from Jack Salter while the Bays attack kept Birkenhead on their toes.more

Onehunga Sports 2 ECB 0 played 6 May 2017 at Waikaraka Park

This was a hard-fought contest between two good sides that went right down to the wire, spoilt only by the awarding of a dubious penalty in the dying minutes.

It was end to end play from the kickoff as both sides attacked and the defences repelled. Dylan Stansfeld had his cross headed clear by Onehunga’s Ross Haviland in what was to be a continuous battle between these two, more

ECB 4 Bay Olympic 1 played 29 April 2017 at Bays City Park

A stunning first half display of wet weather football saw East Coast Bays take Bay Olympic apart and go to the break with a 4-0 lead.

Rain had been threatening all day and started to fall around kick off, getting heavier as the game went on, not helped by the complete absence of any breeze to clear the rainclouds.more

Forrest Hill Milford 2 ECB 1 played 25 April 2017 at Beecroft Park

Some calamitous defending cost an injury-hit Bays side three points in its Anzac Day clash with Forrest Hill Milford.

It started off well with Chris Riley and Jamie Mason having chances albeit off target. Forrest Hill attacked and were repulsed.

Then, in the 24th minute, Bays gave away a corner. The ball was crossed, not cleared, bobbling about the goalmouthmore

ECB 1 Glenfield Rovers 4 played 22 April 2017 at Bays City Park

A lacklustre performance from East Coast Bays in their local derby with Glenfield Rovers saw them slump to another home defeat as they were outmuscled and out-played by their near neighbours.

It was always going to be a midfield battle with few chances on offer. Dylan Stansfield’s free kick forced a save from Michael O’Keefe who also had to deny Zane Olla in the first fifteen minutesmore

Manurewa 2 ECB 4 played 17/04/2017 at Memorial Park, Manurewa

A first half hat trick to Dylan Stansfield, set the stage for a comfortable away win.

Long grass and a greasy surface from the rain made football tricky with passes going astray far too often.

The game was only a minute old when Manurewa won a free kick a few metres outside the penalty area. Rudy Mozr lined up a shot which took a wicked deflection leaving Liam Anderson strandedmore

ECB 2 Three Kings United 3 played 14 April 2017 at Bays City Park

Bays came from behind twice, only to be denied points by a late goal that came from a free kick that many felt should have been awarded the other way.
This decision, along with an offside call that denied a goal and a couple of other decisions, left supporters feeling hard done by at the conclusion of the game.

ECB 0 Hamilton Wanderers 1 played 8 April 2017 at Bays City Park

Winning ugly is acceptable – you take all the points. You can’t lose ugly, its unacceptable.

This was an ugly game, punctuated only by a screamer of a goal from Hamilton’s Davis Smith in the 28th minute. Bays struggled to put passes together, took the wrong option more often than not, and were a shadow of the team that played the first two game of the season.more

ECB 3 Waitakere City 1 played 1 April 2017 at Bays City Park

Down to ten, leading by a single goal and 35 minutes left to play, it didn’t look good for Bays.

It had been a tight first half, with both sides having chances. Waitakere’s Steven Macdonald was blocked by Jack Beguely, and a stunning save by Michael Williams prevented Adyn Kettle from opening the scoring. Joe Bresnahan had tested veteran Ross Nicholson early in the game but Bays hadn’tmore

East Coast Bays Welcomes Little Kickers

Little Kickers on the Shore

East Coast Bays AFC are pleased to announce a partnership with Little Kickers – a leading global provider of football coaching and play, which have recently set up  on Auckland’s North Shore.

East Coast Bays will be working alongside Little Kickers to develop and nurture footballing talent with a key focus on preschool children. This partnership will enable children to have a defined pathway into football and Little Kickers will be working closely with ECB coaching teams to develop and grow the game locally.

Little Kickers sessions introduce football to children aged 18 months to 7 years. It is the largest provider of pre-school football sessions in the UK and has been successfully franchised out and now found in Canada, Australia, South Africa, Cyprus, Ireland and last year the brand was brought to New Zealand.

The program was developed by UKFA qualified coaches and early childhood educators. It works on the basis that children are much more likely to learn and have fun if their imaginations are engaged and skills are introduced through games rather than formal drills. The company motto, ‘Play not Push’ reflects this. Sessions for under 5’s are held indoors (or if space allows outside in summer) and 5-7 years offer a mix of indoor and outdoor.
