Heat Policy

Hi All,

This weekend and I am sure some others during the season are going to be hot. Many of our stadiums have little or no cooling. Because of their construction and lack of ventilation, many of them can become hotter than the outside temperature, just like a car can.

We have a duty of care to participants and referees to provide a safe environment so please familiarise yourself with the Heat Policy, it is important coaches know about the impact of heat on a player and to look for signs of heat stress and take the player off to hydrate. It is important players know to hydrate before and after their games.

In essence:

Players are made aware of the need to hydrate regularly before and after the game

The referees will be informed when the court temperature reaches 32oC.

An additional compulsory timeout at the 8 minute mark of each half will then be called by the referees.

When the court temperature reaches 37oC games will be stopped and further games cancelled.

If a game is abandoned before it commences or before half time or at half time it is counted as a draw;

If a game is abandoned after half time, the game score stands as the final result.
