Community Football Awards Nominations Now Open

Our Community Football Awards are designed to recognise the outstanding work of the volunteers, administrators and coaches who make an invaluable contribution to AFL in Queensland.

Nominations close Wednesday 31 July, with winners to be announced at Community Football Awards nights throughout the state.

2019 AFL Queensland Community Football Awards Categories

Club Volunteer of the Year 

Timekeepers, team managers, canteen coordinators etc

Selection criteria;

  • To be eligible the nominee must have given notable voluntary service with a Community Club, League or region in Community Football.
  • The nominee must be a voluntary contributor, having received no income from football (honoraria payments excepted).
  • To be selected, the nominee must be a role model for AFL within Community Football level, who acts and works for the best interest of the game without bringing the game into disrepute.
 

Club Volunteer Administrator of the Year

Club presidents, secretaries, committee members etc.

Selection criteria;

  • To be eligible the nominee must have given notable voluntary service with a Community Club, League or region in Community Football.
  • The nominee must be a voluntary contributor, having received no income from football (honoraria payments excepted).
  • To be selected, the nominee must be a role model for AFL within Community Football level, who acts and works for the best interest of the game without bringing the game into disrepute.
 

Longstanding Service Award

Recognising outstanding contributions over 10 years of continuous club service

Selection criteria;

  • To be eligible the nominee must have actively gone above and beyond to contribute to the Club and community in a volunteer capacity during their tenure
  • They must have played an active role in assisting with the delivery of programs and/or services to the members of the Club
  • The nominee must be a voluntary contributor, having received no income from football (honoraria payments and reimbursements excepted).
  • To be selected, the nominee must be a role model for AFL within Community Football level, who acts and works for the best interest of the game without bringing the game into disrepute.
 

Volunteer Coach of the Year

Awarded in three categories;

  1. Community Club Volunteer Coach - open to Junior, Youth and Senior coaches
  2. Talent Volunteer Coach - open to NEAFL, QAFL, QWAFL, AFL Academies & AFL Queensland Representative Programs
  3. Female Volunteer Coach - open to community football head coaches of all age groups and divisions.

Selection criteria;

  • Nominees must be an accredited member of CoachAFL.
  • To be eligible, the nominee must have a current coaching role in either a Head Coach, Assistant Coach or Club Coaching Coordinator/Director capacity.
  • The nominee must display and foster respect for umpires, opponents, coaches, administrators, officials, parents and spectators and be a role model for the game and coaching.
  • The nominee is up to date with the principles of coaching and skill development and is engaged in ongoing learning and development.
     

NOTE - those making nominations should make no more than one nomination per category.
