GET TO KNOW YOUR COACH - Glenn Wagner – Under 14’S

Glenn Wagner has been associated with the Hawks all his life, in a variety of roles.

We’re excited to have him on board as lead Coach for the Under 14’s in 2015.

Glenn’s (aka Junior,) background with the Hawks started watching his father play

senior football in the early 70s. Glenn’s Sandgate football life began in 1975 and

finished as a senior footballer with two premierships in the late 1990s. He has helped

coach at school and junior level for many years. This is his first year at the helm.

Through senior and rep footy Glenn has had the pleasure of being coached by

wonderful coaches such as John Blair, Keith Wallis and ‘Bomber’ Adams and has had

the privilege of memorable training sessions with Peter Knights, Alan Jeans and

Kevin Sheedy.

This year, Glenn brings an energy to the under 14’s, that encompasses a team first

philosophy.

“I want to improve the team by improving the individual first. I hope that every

player falls more in love with football, and knows that they have finished the year a

better teammate and a better player.”

“Enjoyment is the first goal,” says Glenn. “At 14 the boys are still at the adolescent

stage. We can teach foundations that will pave the way for their future football

careers. Structure, skills, commitment and tactics are a focus but enjoying our

teammates and playing football will be a part of everything we do.”

Off the field Glenn and his wife Jenelle have recently sold a business they had been

operating for a decade to enjoy more time with their children Grace, 14 and Angus 12.

Glenn has called for all Under 14 Hawks and families to come down to a meet and

greet at 5.30pm Sunday 21 December and be ready to launch into pre-season training

from Tuesday 13 January.
