Round 9 Youth Wrap

Round 9 of AFLBJ Youth Fixtures saw mixed results for the club. The Under 12's and the Under 16 Divison 1 side won, but the Under 14's and Under 16 Div 3 side lost.

The Under 12's travelled to Calamvale to take on the top of the table, Leopards on Friday Night. It was a top of the table clash, and Sherwood came away with a hard fought 8 point victory. The final score was Calamvale 4.2.(26) to Sherwood 5.4.(34). The victory now closes the gap between the two sides, and now Sherwood's percentage is the only thing stopping them being from being in top spot. A percentage booster from Kenmore means that they slipped down to third place even though they won. Sherwood has now won 7 games in a row with their only loss being against Calamvale in Round 1. The 12's return home this week to play Wynnum on Sunday at 10:30.

The Under 14's didn't come away with the result they were after when they travelled Narangba to take on the Crows on Sunday. The final score was Narangba 7.14.(56) to Sherwood 3.2.(20). The 14s are still yet to win a game and are on the bottom of the table but will be hoping for an improved performance against Redland this week. The Sharks have been very impressive this season and are on top of the ladder, but this will not stop the Maggies from giving it a red hot go when they clash this Sunday at the nest.

The Under 16 Division 3 side also lost this week against Coorparoo away from home 13.17.(95) to 4.4.(28). The Pies have now slipped out of the top 4 and will be looking to get back in when they take on second place Zilmere on Friday night away from home.

The Division 1 side was very impressive in their game against the Wests at Oakman Park late on Sunday afternoon Sherwood beat their western suburb rivals 19.12.(126) to 4.1.(25) in what was a demolition. The team has now won 6 in a row and are on top of the ladder. Next week they play Wilston Grange at 1:30 pm on Sunday at home.

There will be three home games this Sunday with the 12's playing at 10:30, 14's at 12:00 and the Under 16 Div 1 side at 1:30. So get down to the nest and Go Pies!!!
