Memorandum - Senior Divisional Change in 2014
Senior 2014 Season
Dear Club Members
After much considerations and deliberations, a decision has been made to move our Senior teams to the QAFA Amateur (B) Division. This is not a decision which has been taken lightly, but after weeks of discussions with AFL Queensland, our coaching staff and our playing group.
The QAFA Amateur (B) Division is a one team competition. The driving force behind the move to this division has been our low registration numbers. To field teams of Seniors & Reserves, we are required to submit a list of 60 registered players to AFL Queensland by the end of February. Unfortunately our list was just over half this, despite our off season recruitment efforts.
After many discussions with our coaching staff and playing group, it has been decided that the best move forward for the future of the club and Senior teams is to move to the one team division and invest in a full rebuild. This covers a number of key factors, including a stronger recruitment focus both during and after the season and a commitment from our coaching staff and playing group to do everything possible to move forward.
This will not be an overnight process. It will require hard work both on and off the field. We are hopeful to move up to the QAFA Amateur (A) Division – which is a Senior & Reserve competition – before returning to the QFA Division.
There is no denying there are tough times ahead, but I feel this is the best decision for the future of our club. Season 2013 was one of the hardest in our Seniors divisions’ history and one we are certainly not keen to repeat.
I hope you will all show your support by getting behind our Senior team and coaching staff and backing them 100% as I am. We are all looking forward to what Season 2014 has to offer.
James (Scary) Harris
