In the News: 'Dandenong locks in new coach, president

In the past few years presidents have come and gone at Dandenong like a two-goal breeze.

Even Southern League officials had a hard time keeping up with Dandy's changes at the  top. But new president Ian Seagrim says the club is focused on off-field stability and on-field improvement as it plans for 2015.

Dandenong last Friday announced Glenn Jose as its new senior coach. The previous dat at its AGM, Seagrim was elected president, with Steve Davis vice-president, Bev Hiam secretary and Claire Beard treasurer. Seagrim said Jose was an experienced football person and would lead the playing group well.

"He's respected by every-on who knows him" he said. "He's a very good operator and good about what he does. He'll bring a bit of old-fashioned disipline with modern-day tactics".

Jose replaces Daniel Atkin, who coached for three seasons. He playec football at clubs including Frankston Pines, Lang Lang, Beaconsfield, Bunyip and Pearcedale, and coached Gembrook and Nyora.
Jose, who is president of Fountain Gate Cricket Club, said he'd been impressed by the desire of officials to impove the club.

"I'm very positive about what we can achieve ... the attitude is very positive." he said.

Seagrim said the club was the only senior football entity in Dandenong "and we really need to market it."

"There's so much potential to follow the lead of the other Dandenong teams who are at top-notch levels ... the soccer club (Dandenong Thunder), the cricketers (Dandenong Panthers), the basketball teams (Dandenong Rangers). And the football club is just languising. We really need to turn this club around."

He was the club was ken to stage a "marquee match" next year, possibly at another ground
