The Yarras hosted Hallam in a triple Header on a beautiful winter’s day for Ladies’ Day.
Yo-Get-It Auskick Report:
On Friday night the Cubs welcomed another newbie, Jack. The Yarras now have 27 registered Auskickers. D. Russell taught the kids how to kick. The Cubs enjoyed the kicking drills and finished the night with a sausage and a drink.
The Netball All 4 Pets Report:
Round 9's clash against the second placed Dingley was a really well-played game, everyone put in 100% and focused on the game. They were a strong team and we kept the margin to only 14 in the end which is fantastic, a great team effort! Best on court goes to Nadine. Nadine shot well, talked and directed the play the whole game and moved well in the ring with Jess. Thoroughly deserved! Final score 27-41
The Thirds Tower Hotel Report:
Hill became the Thirds third captain this year as they hosted Hallam. Better players for Hallam, were Clohesy, Tyssen, Klomp, Knight and Maconachie. Cameron extended his yearly goal kicking tally by 6 and now has a total of 20 goals having perfected the art of cherry picking. Phillips took the same approach to the footy as he did women in night clubs during his single days (now it's only a memory). He finished with 3 goals. The Evans brothers were fantastic. Klomp, Khoury, Mills, Sharpley, A. Evans, Hume and Quince all kicked a goal each. The Yarras had nine different goal kickers. Sharpley did all the right team things including hand balling in the goal square and placing shepherds for his teammates. The Yarras had a massive 61 point half time lead but allowed Hallam to reduce the margin at three-quarter time to 67 points with a lapse in concentration. Mills and Murray played well. The Yarras ran out 92 point victors.
The Reserves Bendigo Bank Report:
The Reserves played Hallam and were looking to continue their winning form. Debutant, Venville had the ball on a string and at every opportunity was looking goalward. Of his 14 shots at goal, he managed 6 majors. Stiles could not be matched in the forward line and he booted four. Volpetti was looking to impress and show why he was a senior footballer. He wore shoulder tape in Judd's honour. He kicked four and was imposing. Noel stood up as high as someone can when they are only four foot and kicked two. Higgins did the team things and had clean skills. He also contributed with two goals. Pane cashed in for a right foot banana goal and also got voted Best Pipes. The Yarras were up by 33 points at quarter time, the lead then grew by an additional 38 points during the second term, then another 32 points during the premiership quarter. Hallam scored their first goal during the third quarter thanks to Strelec whom gave away a free kick and then deserted the scene of the crime and left Rossi to take the blame. Borg went forward in the final term and he kicked four goals in his retirement game (although he will continue to play thirds). The Yarras put the foot down in the fourth quarter kicking 65 points whilst keeping Hallam scoreless. Better players were Venville, Borg, Volpetti, Stiles, Noel, Higgins, Mahoney, Lange, Pane, Kaliviotis, Johnson, Rossi, Halverson, Mangos, Presland, Smith, Baxter, Dore and Costello. The Yarras shared the ball around with slick movement, handballing it around and were unselfish. With eleven different goal kickers the Yarras won by a staggering 170 points being the highest Reserves winning margin since Round 7, 2011.
The Seniors Brady Tiling Report:
The Seniors played tenth placed Hallam. Buckets returned to form and kicked three goals. Horse and Davies kicked two goals each. Tuck and Symons played well in their first game for the Yarras. Rogers marked his man well whilst rebounding from the backline. Russell also rebounded the footy quicker than Geoffrey Edelsten. Cellini was under every pack. Davies and Villella played well. Jewell showed pure magic. Isherwood was voted Best Butt. The Yarras kicking on goal was atrocious starting with 1-5 in the first term but left their opponents goalless. The Yarras were 24 points up at the major break before racing away at the final break to have a 51 point lead. The Yarras finished the game 73 point winners.
