Panther Match Report 15th July

With only 2 rounds to go before the finals, it is impossible for either of Mazenod Panthers teams not to finish in the top two placings which means for the first time ever we will have both teams playing in a Grand Final Sunday 19th August, congratulations to all players, coaches and support crew, now is the time to start organizing family and friends to attend, team run through etc.

Corey Pollock will play his 100th game on Grand Final day.

MAZENOD BLUE 7.5.47  were defeated by COBURG 1   8.8.64 at Craigieburn.

With ground mix up and the unavailability of five of our Blue team, the game started badly for Peter Biscognin’s 50th game, and finished with our first defeat of season 2012.

We have no report on match apart from goalkickers and best players.

Best Players: Beau Gunning (Best on ground) Rod Pettit, John Soles, Shaun Dux, Jason Gannon, Mark Vanderven, Chris Johnson and Jake Phillips.

Goalkickers; Rod Pettit 2, John Soles 3, Shaun Dux 1 Mark Vanderven 1

   MAZENOD BLACK   12. 25. 97  defeated COBURG 2   0. 2. 2

With the Grand Final on the way Panthers Black have been finding fantastic form at the right end of the season and with teamwork gained by playing the same group of players together each week have not yet lost a game this season.

Dave Cousins reported that it was a great team performance by all players in a run away win.

Best Players; Jack Morrison (Best on ground) Daniel Hassan, Daniel Palmer, Chris Johnson, Damien Cousins, Anthony DiStasio, John Hamilton, Vickram Jholl, George Youssef, Matt Anderson, and Neil McKinnon.

Goalkickers: Matt Andereson 3, Daniel Palmer 2, 1 each to George Youssef, Anthony DiSasio, John Hamilton, Daniel Hassan, Peter Biscognin, Vickram Jholl, Nick DiStasio.

We have been asked to play a combined Albury/Wodonga team at half time at the Ovens and Murray Grand final  Sunday 23rd September. We hope to hire a Coach bus that will hold approx 50 players and supporters.

Big crowd expected on the day. More details as they come to hand  later this month.

The past three years we have been unable to attend this FIDA night because the dates have clashed with our presentation night, however this year we can attend as a club and are looking to fully support this great night with FIDA which is used as a fundraiser for our footy Association.

Our last committee meeting we made a confident commitment to have at least 20 Mazenod Panthers people to attend this night, we have 10 definite starters and require a further 10 more to represent Mazenod Panthers on the night.

The night will have a three course dinner, special guests, and silent auctions.

Last time we attended this function, one of our party won a 10 day holiday to Port Douglas, so please email me if you would like to attend this fabulous night.

WHERE: Windy Hill Essendon Football ground. WHEN: Friday 24th August COST: $70 per head.

Victoria defeated South Australia, with John Soles been named amongst the best players kicking 4 goals for the big V, well done Johnny.

FIDA will select players from our Black team to play in a representative game at half time during the St Kilda v Carlton game at Edihad stadium at the last round of AFL footy for the season.

The AFL have not yet confirmed dates for this game in August.

Three of our players, Sam Samason , Simon Pollock and Peter Zapantis were missing from the Coburg game because they had been selected for a training squad in Canberra on 15th and 16th July for selection in the Australian team travelling to Germany in 2013.

Good luck to all our boys.

Club jackets that have not been available since last season are now back in stock, any player or supporter requiring a jacket, they are available from the club $70. Great looking jackets.

Players are reminded that our club polo shirt or hoodie are required to be worn on match day.
