We are thrilled to announce that Michael Stinear, Development Manager of the Central Development Region, has been appointed to replace Justin Wenke as the Head Coach for 2015.
Mick will take up a newly designed full time role with the club as the Head of Football and Coaching.
Talent Manager of the Oakleigh Chargers, Mark Smart:
“This newly appointed full time role is the first of its kind in the metropolitan area of our competition (the TAC Cup) and we are really excited by the opportunities this role brings for our club, our players and also for Mick’s career pathway. This full time role will enable us to strengthen our resources and development programs which will ideally give our squad members the increased professionalism and club environment to extend their own football development.
Mick will also play a significant role in the development of all our club coaches and assist in continuing to strengthen partnerships with all our key player stakeholders such as their local clubs and private schools”
Mick has been with AFL Victoria and AFL Queensland in his development capacity for over 8 years and has been in a coaching capacity at elite and senior level for the same amount of time.
Mick is currently an accredited Level 2 AFL Coach and is completing his High Performance (Level 3) accreditation. He has been a former captain of Vic Metro U18s during his TAC Cup days with Dandenong Stingrays and steered the club to this year’s 2014 TAC Cup Premiership to a successful season, as our interim coach.
The club would like to acknowledge the significant contribution of our former coach, Justin Wenke, who has been our Head Coach during seasons 2012, 2013 and until round 5 of 2014. During this time Justin coached our 2012 premiership and has had a positive effect on the development of all the squad players during this time. Justin has tendered his resignation citing time/work commitments and personal reasons. We wish Justin and his family all the best for the future.
Mick will begin this role from the 1st November. The Oakleigh Chargers U18 pre-season starts on Monday 10th November at Warrawee Park Oval.
