In a high standard match where the lead changed in the first half, the Northern Knights held off a spirited Western Jets Squad to win by 21 points, in the opening game of AFL Victoria's 2012 U/16 Metropolitan Carnival.

Kicking with the wind in the first quarter, the Northern Knights got off to a flyer kicking 5 goals to 3 to lead by 13 points at the break. In the final quarter to Knights steadied and kicked 4 goals to the Jets 2 and posted a credible 21 point victory.
