BEARS 14's DIV 1 IMMORTALS CHAMPIONS FOR 2017
More than 700 of the state's most talented Junior Rugby League players converged on Sydney’s south-west on Sunday (10 September), vying for honours across five age groups in the inaugural Immortals Conference Championship.
Winning teams across NSWRL Junior League districts including Manly, Eastern Suburbs, Balmain, St George and Canterbury, from Under-13-17, competed for the title of Conference Champions, with a total of 38 teams playing across three fields at Waminda Oval and Campbelltown Stadium.
Teams competed in a round-robin format at Waminda Oval before the pool winners from each age division progressed to the finals, held at Campbelltown Stadium.
NSWRL Chief Executive David Trodden said the inaugural Immortals Conference Championship provides teenagers with the opportunity to compete against some of the best young talent in NSW.
“Days like the inaugural Immortals Conference Championship allow children to excel as footballers without losing sight of the enjoyment, teamwork and values that Junior Rugby League is all about,” Trodden said.
“It was a special occasion for the children lucky enough to progress to the Finals at Campbelltown Stadium. These children will remember this Sunday for a very long time.”
Congratulations to the Berala Bears Under 14's. The Berala Bears, who played with just one reserve all game, came from 12-4 down midway through the second half to beat Beacon Hill 20-12 in the Under-14s Gold final.
