The game on Sunday versus Dundas was a slick affair from the Leichhardt Juniors with our standard determination in defence led by Ryan, Kit and Lochlan. High risk plays were executed beautifully such as a short kick from the kick off which was gathered up by Gary as well as intelligent passing from Michael, Noah and Josiah. Such passing left the opposition struggling in defence and our key strike players were able to capitalise on this with tries from Michael, Richard and Micah. Elijah displayed Israel Folau-like footwork with a glorious run through the middle and I am pleased to announce that, after three weeks of going without, Lucas had his supper on Sunday night, ravishing it like a pack of hyenas on a zebra carcass! Lucas's tackling was much improved which shows that kids thrive on oppression!

Well done Leichhardt Juniors!

Today we played against Concord Burwood Silver at Goddard Park. On arrival we noticed the other team training and knew it was going to be a hard game. Their boys looked much bigger than our boys.

The juniors started off the game to a great game of footy with every one doing their bit. Our team tackled hard and played well.

The captain for the day was Daniel; he played one of his best games ever scoring a 70m try against a very hard team. Daniel did 6 try saving tackles with 2 being held up in goal and the rest tackled over the line before crossing the line

Leonardo did a magnificent try saving tackle which stopped the opponent in his tracks. Overall there were a few mistakes made by the team, but was one of the hardest games they have played in the competition so far.

Finn played hard as well tackling and running the ball up.

Sebastian, Adam, Anthony and Max all doing good strong tackles and run ups.

Damian always running hard and straight against the opposition

The final result was 4 -1 with our team scoring the only one try. Daniel took out man of the match.

Well done team. It wasn’t a win for us but it was a great game to watch.

Round 6 saw Leichhardt Juniors play Dundas Shamrocks at the delightful Birchgrove Oval on a lovely sunny Mothering Sunday.

The game was a lively affair with plenty of tries and big hits from both sides.  The first few minutes were very tight with both defences holding their lines, Juniors came very close early but were forced into a change over right on the Dundas line by some determined tackling by their opponents.  However it wasn't long before we saw the first points of the day as Samson Tuqiri broke through the defensive line in his own half to streak the length of the pitch leaving the Dundas players in his wake. This was to be the first of an impressive four tries from young Tuqiri, his pace and gritty tackling proving a real test for the Shamrocks, all game.

Almost immediately Juniors crossed the line again with a superb jinxing run from today's Captain Henecee Taione who stepped past a couple of defenders and powered his way over the line for his first of two tries today.  A marvellous effort.

Dundas hit back with a great breakaway try that saw their man almost run down by Samson and Henecee but the player in green and yellow just pipped them at the post. However a great example of not giving up from the Leichhardt boys.  Juniors were quickly in again as wily dummy half Jude Bannell who after some great goal line defence was quick to pick up a loose ball and streak away to score a full length of the pitch try. A great all round effort from Jude today and was unlucky not to score again later in the game on the last tackle. He went over the line but was judged by the referee to have knocked on. Jude's try was shortly followed by a great run from Jayden Harris who saw a gap in the defence's left edge and there was just no stopping him as he went over for a well earned score. Great vision.

Today saw a fantastic team effort with everyone making their mark in attack and satisfyingly for the hard working coaching team, solid defence. Jaii Robertson was just unbeatable in his defensive application today whether it was sticking to his spot or charging out of the line. A rare week not to see his name on the score board but Oscar Jorgensen showed he has many strings to his bow with great defence and really impressive support play as he backed his team to the winners circle.

With two tries late in the last period from Shamrocks, the boys and girls from Juniors didn't have it all their own way and were made to defend their line and muscle up in defence.

The last action of the day saw arguably the try of the day with a team effort that would look impressive on any NRL highlight reel. From a tap start just near his own try line Jude Bannell scooted to his right drawing three defenders with him before offloading to Thomas Mitchell, who today was just superb and absolutely everywhere. Taking the ball forward Thomas stepped and with a pin-point pass off loaded on half way to Keturah (Puff) Matoe on his outside that allowed her to race off down the left edge. With pace to burn Puff streaked away with Samson Tuqiri close behind in support but she wouldn't need it as with Benji-esque aplomb stepped past the last defender to place the ball over the line.

Final Score today 9-3. A great game with Dundas Shamrocks providing very gritty skilful and sporting opposition.

Man of the Match

Captain for the day Henecee Taione for not just his well taken double but by leading from the front with a great defensive effort. Well done Huss.

Our Leichhardt Juniors under 9 orange side played (for the second week in a row) the Under 9 Wanderers red side at Blackmore oval.

After going down to the Wanderers red team last weekend our boys wanted nothing more than a win yesterday and win they did. Our junior boys came from behind with some great team work to win 20-18.

On the back of some brilliant defence from everyone our tries came from some brilliant plays from Max, Oscar and Bailey.

Everyone should be very proud of themselves; a great team effort was on display for all to see.

Junior Wall Report U11s - Juniors vs Wanderers White.  Won 38 - 16
Welcome back from a great Mothers Day celebration, with our Junior WALL recording its first win of the season vs Wanderers.  This was our first game back into Division 2.  It was clear in the first half that our Juniors were a little bit 'lazy' in playing a weaker opposition.  They thought the game was already won at the warm-up.  Half-time the Juniors were only ahead by 2 points and they got a rev-up by Coach Peter to get into the game and hammer the Wanderers.

In the second half, the Junior Wall began to pound the Wanderers, with a few scattered bodies across the field, as our boys put on tries and hurt in defence - Our special recipe for Mothers Day.  In the end, an easy victory, but one where we needed to lift the boys to perform.  Special mention to Jake, who scored 3 tries, with most, sneaking over from dummy-half.  Harrison, Rory and Malachi were all strong in attack.  Our big boys Hwan, Jordan and Sharbel took the ball up hard with one run from Hwan in second half leaving a few bodies behind.

Mark and Marcus lifted the intensity in defence in the second half and it made a difference, with both boys making strong runs as well.  The work horse, Dylan, never stopped, with little Mischa scooting around the ground looking for gaps.

In any event, a first-half to forget and a second half that welcomes the boys back with a win.

No report last week, the boys were awful and got smashed. This week though the shoe was on the other foot with Leichhardt Juniors 52 vs Mascot 0.

A try to Phoebus Ioannoufrom the kickoff, followed by a try to Symy Despinidis off a Laurence Zarounis bullet cut-out pass off the next kickoff left the Mascot defence in tatters. Mascot never recovered from that point with the razor sharp attack cutting them to pieces every set. Defence was rock solid with Mascot failing to cross the line after 60 minutes of football. 4 tries to Symy Despinidis, 2 tries each to Laurence Zarounis and Phoebus Ioannou, tries to Haedon House and Dylan Wyeth.
