GIANTS-WARRIORS ROUND 2 REVIEW

The Giants travelled to Bunbury last Saturday to take on South West Warriors. The ladies started the day off with halves Amber Spence and Kahlia Morehu leading the way and directing play with several good attacking raids, repeatedly penetrating the Warriors defensive line and with good support from the team going forward resulting in tries to Elle Warren, Kate Coorey, Kahlia Morehu, Olivia Warren, Hayley Utia,Tiana Midwood, Shauna Narrier and Amber Spence kicking 6 goals to run out winners 40-0. Coach Bobbie Utia has the ladies playing a very entertaining style of footy and are showing a lot skill with the ball and should only get better as the season progresses.
The ladies litmus test will come in a couple of weeks when they play arch rivals Fremantle Roosters a replay of last years Grand Final. It should be a ripper. G's Up!

In the 3rd grade game, the Giants allowed the Warriors to take a 22-0 lead before they started to produce some good footy and to their credit, fought hard to come back and eventually run out winners 32-22. I'm sure this side when they settle down and show a lot more discipline will be a hard side to beat. When the Giants forwards started to dominate with their aggressive, hard-running with the ball, the Warriors were finding it hard to hold the Giants attack. The try of the match would have to go to winger Tory Burke after centre Will Akroyd broke the Warriors line 40 metres out to sprint down field drew the fullback and got a pass away to Tory in support to score in the corner for his first try. Unfortunately Tory was denied a second try when he gathered the ball from a well placed cross field kick to the corner of the Warriors try line by Kris (Bouncer) Pisarek only to be deemed offside by a questionable call from the linesman. Other tries were scored by Will Akroyd 2, Jeremy Simpson 1, Daniel Mana 1, Steven Bennett 1 Joseph Anderson 1. Daren (Pom) Johnson kicking 2 goals.

With the side that ran on the field for the Giants Reserve Grade they should have accounted for the Warriors side, however it was not to be, going down 28-22. At times, the Giants showed that they can play some good football and once they gel and become more confident in each other. they wil be a good football team. The Giants were trailing most of the game and started gaining momentum towards the end but time ran out. Tries were scored by Tyran Davis 1, Jordan Meester 1, Sean Manning 1 and Poutaka Kihi kicking 3 goals.
