from the President...

Welcome to all new and existing families to our club.

We have just held our AGM, on Sunday 14th October, and I would like to thank all the new volunteers to our committee plus the existing people who have stayed on in their roles from last year. I’m sure this group of people will add some great new ideas and concepts to our club. I look forward to working with you all.

I would also like to thank all the past committee members for their tireless efforts and contributions to SCYC Basketball, without your help and input we would not have experienced the enormous amount of success and growth. So thank you! Also, a big thank you to all of the committee and families for a fantastic presentation night. A great time was had by all with over 100 pizzas (that’s 800 slices) ordered and eaten.

We have now started our Summer 2012/2013 season, I’m sure you are all aware that is a huge and difficult job placing players in teams and organising our grading, but we are now off and running with training and games underway. Good luck to all players, coaches and team mangers – GO SCORPIONS!

A few things to note for the up-coming season, the man to man rule has changed, I have attached a copy of the new rule for you all to read. Please make yourselves familiar with this rule and if you don’t understand it, please contact me and I will clarify it for you.

Can I also request that coaches start making their substitutions through the score-bench, it is something that Kilsyth Basketball will eventually start to enforce. So when subbing a player on can you please approach the score- bench and let them know, the scorers will then notify the referees that you require a Sub.

In the next month or so I will be organising a coaches meeting and training session, this will involve Rodd Pop who is the director of coaching at Kilsyth Basketball coming out and offering some coaching pointers. Rodd has many years of experience both here and in America so this will be a fantastic opportunity for all of our coaches to gain some more knowledge.

We also have the Kilsyth Basketball Association Awards night coming up, we will be nominating all of our award winners from our presentation night, so good luck to all of those people.

Once again, a big thank you to all those who are involved at our club, remember we are all here for the kids. I wish everyone the best of luck for the new season.

Go Scorpions!

Shelley Taylor

SCYC Basketball President

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
