We've Done It!
16 weeks from dust to delight, our new oval is looking fantastic. The resurfaced oval was handed back to the Coorparoo Secondary College last Friday. With 2 ovals now back in action, the training schedules have changed.
Make sure you look at the revised training schedule
Courtesy of some hard work and dedication to our community from local Member for Greenslopes, Joe Kelly, the school oval was ripped up, leveled, a new irrigation system put in with mains booster pump, and the field replanted. The result is a great new surface that contains a single species of specialised, state of the art, drought resistant turf that should cut water and fertiliser inputs significantly.
Along with the turf and irrigation, AFLQ have installed new posts. A Federal Stronger Communities Grant through Member for Griffith,Terri Butler, supplied a filtered water bottle fill point behind the coaches boxes, with a bottle fill and bubbler point to be installed on the spectator side in the next few weeks. These hydration stations combined with the new bubbler and bottle fill on the canteen building provide safe and accessible water to everyone using the park. The Stronger Communities Grant was matched through funds from our 2018 Ladies Night. Installation, plumbing and the Reece Plumbing bubbler on the canteen wall were generously supplied by GRK Plumbing.
It was a long time coming, but so well worth the wait! Enjoy it and please look after it!
