Part of our Club mandate is to provide a fantastic sporting facility for the community and to support Australia's Game. Because of your efforts and those of our volunteers, supporters and sponsors, we do that really well.
But, we are already busting at the seams for oval access, and our community is growing by leaps and bounds. Our Junior membership is seeing double-digit growth and our Senior Club is going really well. We need to cater for that, and part of our long term planning has been to build a 3/4 sized oval on the Coorparoo Secondary College back yard. Ideally, we'd like this oval to cater for a wider community and become a great CSC resource as well with provision for round ball activity and maybe including a drop in cricket pitch.
Terri Butler, Federal Member for Grifith, will be announcing her huge commitment to provide funding to build that 3/4 oval at 11:00 this Saturday! This will be awesome!
In addition, Terri's Team will be hosting a BBQ at the Club from 10am to 2pm. Terri will be there and will be making that significant announcement at around 11:00am. It would be great to have you there to celebrate! This will be a media release as well, so this is a great chance for a photo bomb :)
Terri has been one of our greatest supporters and particularly of women's footy. Just this month, we received a Strengthening Communities grant from Terri to install filtered water hydration stations throughout the park for use by players and the community. These bubbler and bottle fill points are on order and will be installed by Club Sponsor and local business GRK Plumbing (who is also donating one station through Reece Plumbing!).
This Saturday is a super opportunity to register for the fantastic season coming up, pick up your Club kit and merchandise and really celebrate the support we get from our sponsors and supporters. I hope you can spare some time to join us. Bring the kids down for a snag and sign 'em up to the best footy Club in Brisbane.
You'll be able to see the progress of the newly surfaced and replanted school oval. The oval has been leveled, 150mm of new surface added, new irrigation system installed and replanted with state-of-the-art grass. This is courtesy of the Coorparoo Secondary College and State funding through Joe Kelly, State Member for Greenslopes and supported by AFL Queensland.
This project supports the partnership between CAFC and the Coorparoo Secondary College to integrate AFL in to an academic stream. Enrolments are open and it is going great! We'll have CSC players on hand to show off their new jerseys and Joe Kelly will be on hand from 10:00.
Please take some time to come down to your Club on the 2nd from 1000 to have a free snag, celebrate and enjoy being part of the excitement.
