Upcoming Coterie Lunch - Friday July 6 - Guest Speaker Mark 'Bomber' Thompson

12.00pm Friday 6 July 2012
Sandy by the Bay, Beach Road, Sandringham

Mark "Bomber" Thompson played 202 games for Essendon between 1983 and 1996, captaining the side from 1992 until 1995. After retiring, he was an assistant coach at Essendon, an assistant coach at North Melbourne and then went on to become the senior coach of the Geelong between 2000 & 2010, coaching them to two Premierships. In 2007 the Cats won the Premiership against Port Adelaide by a record 119 points. Following an unexpected loss to Hawthorn in 2008, Thompson coached Geelong to its second Premiership in three years in 2009. After Geelong were eliminated from the preliminary finals to Collingwood, at the conclusion of the 2010 season, Thompson announced his retirement and resignation as Geelong coach effective immediately, his reason being that he was "bombed out" after a decade at the helm. Only a few weeks later Thompson signed as assistant coach of Essendon, putting an end to weeks of speculation following his resignation from Geelong. Thompson will give an insight into his time in Football in what will be a fascinating day!
