In not surprisingly windy conditions once again, we found ourselves heading into the game vs Coburg with a strong line-up and with only one result in mind, however things changed quickly.  A lack of competitiveness and accountability soon saw Coburg jump out to an early lead although kicking into a slight breeze.  Things didn't really improve after quarter time and going into the long break we found ourselves 6 goals down and with quite a task ahead of us.  The second half saw our boys although not playing great footy, prove that we do have the ability to play very good football in patches when we are in fact prepared to pressure the opposition and win the footy back.  We certainly had our fair share of the footy and more than enough chances to put the score on the board, however our ball use wasn't quite at the level it needed to be and we were not able to capitalise.
Our better players for the day were St Kilda midfielder Jarryn Geary who had 27 disposals to go with 13 Ball Gets, 9 marks and 5 tackles in a great example of hard running and work rate, Matt Stapleton again turned in a fine display of footy after returning from the Seniors with 22 disposals, 5 tackles, 6 marks and 2 goals.  Tim Mavric continues his fine form in his first year of VFL footy repelling a number of attacks down back and doing a great job of nullifying his opponent. Brett Dore and fellow Saints big man Daniel Archer worked tirelessly throughout the day in a variety of roles including CHF, CHB and Ruck, leading from the front.  Chris Michaliades although not having an abundance of disposals applied an enormous amount of forward pressure and played a big part in our team being able to get back into the game with his ability to run down opponents all over the ground.
After a pretty reasonable month of footy which saw us get a couple of much needed victories our attention turns to a very highly regarded opponent this week in Port Melbourne.  We will work on a couple of areas within our game throughout the week and I can assure you we will come ready to play on Saturday.  Go Zebs!
