Sautner announces VFL Retirement

Sandringham Captain Nick Sautner has announced his retirement from VFL Football.

After careful consideration Nick felt his professional commitments (work and study) would not allow him the level of commitment required to play at the Zebras in 2011 and would not be fair on his team mates and the coaching staff.

Nick joined the club in 1997 and in his first year played Centre Half Back (kicking 7 goals for the year) in a premiership team. After 202 Sandringham games and 621 Sandringham goals Nick retires as the clubs games and goals record holder and the most decorated player in the clubs history with 5 premierships and 9 “Frosty Miller” Medals for the leading goal kicker in the competition.

Nick will be sadly missed by all at the club as he has not only been a great player but a great clubman as well.

President Gerard Ryan said "Nick has been an inspiration since coming to Sandringham Football Club in 1997 and has achieved the ultimate success being a 5 time premiership player, 9 time “Frosty Miller” medalist and games record holder which is the most outstanding achievement of any player in the history of the Football Club.  On behalf of all members, players and supporters we congratulate Nick on an outstanding career and we wish him all the best for the future and I hope he remains involved in some shape or form with the Sandringham Football Club".
