Sandringham supports Alistair Smith

Sandringham Football Club President Gerry Ryan has spoken on behalf of the club, throwing his support behind Sandringham and St Kilda youngster Alistair Smith after Jason Akermanis called him a “dribbler” following Sandringham’s match against Williamstown on the weekend.

“Alistair Smith did a fine job on Jason Akermanis and the club fully supports him and the way he goes about his football” Ryan said.

The Western Bulldogs have issued an apology for Akermanis’ comments with Western Bulldogs coach Rodney Eade saying “I watched the game and the young lad didn't grab hold of him at all. I thought the kid did a very good job''.
