Kedron played three trial games at home on Saturday.
A patched up thirds team gave their coach, Nudge reason to be encouraged with a good effort against an understrength Sandgate. Played in hot conditions albeit later in the afternoon, both sides would be happy with the work rate of their players, in a game played in good spirit, where the scores were very close all day. James Tilbury was good for Kedron and showed he has the ability to play higher grades if availability permits. Scott Norton kicked his first goal in red and blue colours and the team gelled well overall.
The Ressies scored a convincing win over a vastly understrength Nambour side. Both sides were affected by the unavailability of many players and the game was a credit to both teams who tried hard all day. Kedron though proved too strong overall, and despite the high temperatures, the players showed there will be some healthy competition for positions when the season proper starts in a fortnight.
Kicking thirty- two goals meant it was hard to choose a best on ground, but the midfield group led by 'Double', who played the early game due to cricket commitments, were prominent all day. Their ability to get first use of footy set up the game for a forward line that kick more accurately as the game progressed.
The Seniors scored a last gasp win by one point over Nambour. Both sides had many players missing and the spectacle showed some skill errors which can be expected at this time of the year. A twelve-thirty start did not help either side, both of which suffered from the heat.
Nambour led all day until late in the the fourth quarter when some positional changes by player-coach Ducey, enabled a more structured showing for the Redlegs to escape with a last minute win. The game proved a solid hit out for both sides, both of which could take some positives from their respective performances. Kedron were assisted by another strong performance from Big Jake Enkera who defied the heat with a non stop effort in the ruck. Midfielder "Kid" Sauvage was tireless with many possessions and clever disposals. Langers also played strongly despite a couple of head knocks and presented well when resting up forward.
So now to the season proper in a fortnight!
Make a note that our first games of the season are at Aspley on Saturday 29 March, with a 3pm Reserve Grade start and 5pm Senior game due the earlier NEAFL game. See you there!
