Holman Set to Return
Tuesday 16 June 2009
Impressive Morningside youngster Ryan Holman is expected to return to the powerhouse Morningside outfit for their crucial Round 10 Velocity Sports Cup clash with the Northern Territory in Cairns on Saturday night.
Holman missed Sunday’s thumping 148-point win over the Western Magpies with general soreness after making his interstate debut for Queensland the previous week in Hobart.
The classy left-footer is a key part of a Panthers midfield that will provide the litmus test for the Thunder, who have been most impressive in the debut season in the QAFL.
Morningside have sacrificed a home game for the betterment of the game, the Cairns venture designed to promote State League football.
Hence the travel factor will be the same for both teams, with each arriving in the picturesque northern city on match day.
While the Panthers will happily take Holman if he trains without duress this week, the news was not so good for Mt Gravatt with their star defender Tom Tarrant.
Arguably the State’s best defender at his peak, Tarrant will miss at least 10 weeks with a medial ligament injury, meaning his season is over unless the Vultures can go deep into the finals series.
