Rd 12 - Tigers Continue to Dominate at Tigerland

The Tigers continued their 2 and a half year winning streak at their home ground Tigerland Pottsville with a convincing 12 goal win over a young Ballina side on Saturday. The victory was punctuated with a massive double rainbow over the ground in the dying minutes of the match.

The Tigers were expecting a tough clash with the Bombers considering the Tigers were missing up to 8 of their starting players, however the Bombers also have their fair share of injury concerns and to their credit fielded a young side that consisted of several U/16 players. These young guys accounted for themselves very well and will prove to be tough opponents as they grow with the club.

The Tigers have put together a strong squad this season and all the players on Saturday contributed to a another good win. Thor Hoopman has slotted into the rucking role in the absence of Strope and Wilson and continues to dominate much bigger opponents and provide quality ball to the Tigers onballers. Liam Spencer filled the shoes of Captain Jai Purcell onball and played a quality game scoring 2 goals and earning joint players player honours for his efforts.

Johnno Bevan played a cracking game running hard out of the middle and provided many headaches for the Ballina team, whilst Jimmy Walle had another great game, always hard at the ball and providing fantastic service to his forwards. He kicked 3 goals for his efforts and could of earnt himself a big bag if not for an unusually inaccurate radar that saw him kick an unprecedented 7 behinds.

The Tigers backline once again restricted the opposition scoring opportunities with hard defensive football, with quality rebounding that led too many scoring chances at the other end.

Another positive for the Tigers was the ability of Jessie Wilmen and Lachy to step up in the absence of goal scoring machine Ash Gemmill and bag 4 each for the game. Aaron, Benny (6 behinds) and Big John also contributed up front.

The Tigers now look to take on the Lismore Swans at Lismore next weekend.
