Despite poor kicking, the Magpies had too many guns for the Tigers running out winners 20.28 (148) to 8.4 (52)
With a near full strength team and vocal home ground support the Tigers went into the game positive they could put on a good show against the reigniing Premiers however it wasn't to be. The Tigers kicked the first goal of the game but after that it was all Magpies who managed 3.8 against the wind to 2 Tigers goals in the first qtr. Tigers pressure in defence and inaccurate kicking from close range by the Magpies in the second qtr saw the lead incresed to 49 points at half time. It could of been much worse.
The thrid quarter was by far the best from the Tigers when they kicked 5.2 but made little headway into the deficit when Byron kicked 4.6 to lead 13.21 to 8.3. The Magpies finished strongly in the last to kick 7.7 to a solitary behind for a 96 point win.
The major difference was the understanding between players in the Magpies which was, as expected, far better than the Tigers.
Good Performances from theTigers by Jules, Jai, Earle, Trent, Strope, Arty and new player Adam.
A special Mention to Big Sim who played his final game for the Tigers before heading south. Big Sim No.9 has been involved with the Tigers since their inception and whilst he dominated the forward line in just about every Rec Footy game he played, a severe Hamstring injury in the first game of the season kept him from performing to his best. Thanks for everything Big Sim and best of luck with your new endeavours in the South Pole (Melbourne).
Thanks to all Tigers Coaching and Support Staff, Volunteers and supporters.
