Football is Australia’s Biggest Club-Based Participation Sport and NQ Football want to ensure the numbers of players involved in the sport continues to grow in the north regardless of skill level. .

NQ Football is pleased to announce that after 2 years of losses, it has turned its financial position around and are ready to move forward and grow the game. In the last 12 months, NQ Footballs home, Brolga Park has seen major changes including the refurbishment of toilets and change rooms, painting of buildings, erection of 7 new shade covers, irrigation completed to all fields at the park and refurbishment of three Fields for the 2017 season.

NQ Football can confirm they have secured the sponsorship of McDonald’s, Rapid Legal Solutions, Townsville Auto Group (TAG), and Paradise Outdoor Advertising as major sponsors along with various field sponsors.

NQ Football is committed to strengthening Football in the North, and in doing so will make the following changes for 2017. The board will adopt the FFA Whole of Football Plan as part of their strategy to grow the game, which includes the recent appointment of Nathan O’Connor as the referee co-ordinator. 

NQ Football Limited can confirm the following competition for 2017, which includes promotion and relegation between the Premier League and City League competitions.

The Boards new community based football program will be transparent in requirement and sustainable in course.

Premier League Competition - 6 team male competition consisting of the following clubs,








A 6 team Reserve Grade competition will also follow the Premier League teams.

The City League Competition will replace the existing first division competition.

 A separate NQ Cup will be in place for all clubs to play both male & female teams which will be set up based on the FA Cup model with prize money in place.


The board is also pleased to announce a standalone Women’s Premier League Competition, which will be open to all clubs. The board is committed to growing Women’s Football and believes this puts a greater focus on the women’s competition

NQ Football’s expansion plans include development of an indigenous program and inclusion of Defence Football teams

The board wants to see all clubs grow, including upgrading their facilities through grants and increasing playing numbers which then leads to ongoing sponsorship opportunities. The board is also committed to sun safety and will try and schedule as many night games as possible during the year, and will put more pressure on all levels of government to assist with lighting at Brolga Park, “The home of Football”.

Ultimately sport is about fun, fitness and friendships.  It helps shape Australians as individuals and as a society. NQ Football has a part to play in this and encourages all football fans to visit their local club and get involved in the game.
