Jonathan Williams or courageous Jono as known to his friends has become a weapon in the Muswellbrooks Cats artillery that can be pulled out at a moments notice to deliver a crucial blow.
Jono joined the Cats in 2014 after an absence from the game since a child growing up in the WA town of Kalgoorlie. As a child Jono played for John Paul College as a hungry forward but hung his boots up to focus on family and career.
In 2014 a chance encounter with the Cats faitful at their home pub saw Jonos hunger for the sherrin grow once more and later that week he laced up his boots and ran out as a proud Cat.
Since then Jono has played in 30 games and kicked 24 goals as a forward. This season Jono has focused on his fitness and size trimming down to gain some elusive speed. Head Coach Scotty said he has never seen Jono so fit and trim and is excited to see how much his new found fitness can help the squad.
Jono is also taking young U17 Besho under his wing and teaching him the way in the forwards as an apprentice.
2016 looks to be a good year for the Cats forwards and Jono will have a big hand to play and it is exciting to see what happens.
