The Cats have had an excellent year in 2015. Although no flags were brought home there was much talent and hope is great for the 2016 season, but before the club looks ahead we must remember those who stood out this season.
At the BDAFL Elliott Davey Medal night a very deserving cat was recognised for 30 years of service to the Cats. Max Barwick has been involved in the cats since day dot taking on the role of treasurer, for 6 years and club president 8 years, he was the first cat to be made a life member back in 1992 and has played over 100 games in the club and white hoops. Now Max can be seen around the club helping out on game day and having an active involvement in the club committee still maintaining all club records and memorabilia. Without Max the cats simply would not be, the club is more than thankful and believe his recognition was well deserved.
The Cats were also well represented at the AFL hunter junior awards with Jack Wilson receiving the best team player in the U17 age group, Annan Snewin and Toby Davis received best team players U15 and Reilly Howe was the best team player U13. Noah McGrath, Ky McGrath and Tristan Warner were all recognised as Rep players on the night.
But one of the biggest awards on the night went to the entire club. The Muswellbrook Cats were named the AFL Hunter Junior 2015 club of the year. The award was in recognition in the amazing effort the club has put in to produce 4 competitive squads. The club has benefited from such a strong junior program with a lot of juniors feeding straight into the senior ranks as well trained and fit athletes. Club Jr President Donna “The Machine” Mullane said “is award is unexpected but certainly not undeserved. The people at our club, every player, parent, supporter and committee member has played a part in this achievement and I couldn't be more proud”

Life membership as a part of the Muswellbrook Cats AFC can only be described as the ultimate honour and two well deserving people were recognised in 2015 and granted life membership to this great club.
Brian Marta started his cat’s career in 2006 and has played nearly 100 games for the club in that time. He has received many awards during his tenure and has also coached and captained the side. as well as all his efforts on the field Marta has done a great deal for the club off the paddock being an active member of the club committee and doing so much for the club behind the scenes. Club president Ken “The Rat” Garland says it best and says it often, “Every club would be better off if they had a Brian Martin in their ranks”
Donna Mullane was the other recipient of life membership and wow what hasn’t she done for the club! She has been club treasurer and club Vice president for many years. In that time she has built up the Cats junior program to be the best in the hunter as recognised in the 2015 Hunter junior awards. She is always the first to arrive to the game and the last to leave and also helps out on senior game days. There is one and only Donna Mullane, she is a special type of person and while ever she is at the club the club will succeed.
Also remember that if you wish to become more involved in the club the AGM will be held on the 10th of October and all are encouraged to attend.
