Due to the poor weather all over the Hunter this week the Hunter Junior AFL has had to cancel the first round of football for the 2015 season. This is a disappointment for the juniors but is unavoidable. The Cats Jrs were all set to have away games in Round 1 but will now advance straight into Round 2.
The Sunday will see a Gala day at Weeraman field with all team excpet the U17’s who have a Bye playing at home. The U13’s take on Newcastle White at 9:30, The U15’s Blue also take on Newcastle White at 10:50 while the U15’s White will take on Nelson bay at 12:30. After the juniors play the Cats will take the field at 2:15 playing Lake Macquarie in what should be an excellent match.
The day will be a great chance for all ages to watch ad support each other in a rare occasion with the Cats and juniors both playing on the same day. Below is the official announcement of Round 1 from AFL Hunter Juniors Chairman Tony Bradley
The Cats hope all teams are safe and hope that their fields and facilities will be ok for future rounds.
Hi All
Firstly, i hope your are all safe and secure after these horrific storms.
I have had contact from several controlling bodies for our sporting fields and the general consensus is that sporting fields in the Hunter area will be closed from now until Sunday, (Inclusive) this will allow council staff to assess facilities and field safety after the storms.
With this in mind we have decided to Washout round 1 and start the season with round 2 next week, this will mean that the Youth Girls season launch will be rescheduled for next week. (information on the Youth Girls Launch will be conveyed to clubs once confirmed)
Again sorry for the inconvenience but it is our responsibility to ensure the safety of all of our members.
Stay Safe
Regards
Tony Bradley
