Moreland Heritage Cup

As part of the innargual Moreland Heritage Cup the Under 11 girls entered a combined team from Joeys and Kangas this year.  The 4 teams all played in a round robin over 4 weeks in Spring 2013.  Finishing on top with a draw and two wins the final was going to be tough against Spring Hills who we also played during the year.

And what a great final it was - thanks to all the girls for putting in wonderfully to just fall short 1-0. Everyone did their bit in defense midfield and up front  -  and the regular subbing made it tougher than usual to get our flowing game together.  It was a fantastic game of soccer and everyone who was part of it should be very happy - a true grand final.

The play from the Kensington girls was awesome and another very dominant display - Spring Hills with their super-keeper is just a very hard team to break through right in front of goals and the conditions yesterday added to the difficulty.

The final 10 minutes in particular was amazing as the Kensington girls mounted attack after attack - it was very exciting to watch. The individual skills, passing and fighting spirit were a sight to behold. A very promising debut from Erika as well playing her first games of soccer in this tournament - well done and thanks also for volunteering as goalie - all of our goalies did a great job through the comp.

Congrats to Georgie for best on ground today  - there were Lots of other moments of really good football across the squad - we had so much of the attack but we knew it was going to be tough To get past their goalie who played well again today

I'm sure all your parents and supporters are as proud as I am of your dedication over a great few weeks. Again we could not have done it without everyone's support over the holidays as well

It's great to such support through the year - and now we have a trophy for the cabinet in the new club rooms
