Whilst it may feel like we are still in the middle of the off-season we now find ourselves only weeks away from our first pre season sessions. The club have been extremely busy behind the scenes conducting a full review of our football department and our existing playing list. As normal there will be several additions to our list heading into season 2018, although the club will also farewell several senior players who have made significant contributions to the club.
It is unusual for an EFL club to announce departures publicly in this forum but we believe we should be transparent with our members, supporters and the general public so everyone has an understanding on how these decisions have been made.
Some key on-field personal including Senior Captain Julian Petracca, Rob Petracca, Chris Hoegel & Jayden Hoegel will all depart the club as of this year. After some open and honest conversations with our football manager and football department the club and these players believe it is in the interests of both parties to move in different directions.
Club president Matt McCubbin said " Both the Petracca and Hoegel brothers have been at the club for some time now and have all contributed a huge amount of work and effort into where the club finds ourselves today. These guys all played a huge part in our 2015 senior premiership and for that our club is extremely grateful. The club is looking to move in a different direction and while these guys are capable of playing at a high level of local footy we have encouraged them to do so. It was extremely important that we made this a mutual decision and that both the club and players part ways in an extremely positive manner. On behalf of the entire club I wish the boys all the best at their future clubs and look forward to continuing the friendships forged over many years into the future."
The club will continue to move forward as we prepare to improve our position in Division 2 and the look forward to announcing some new recruits in the coming weeks.
