The IFWFC have had a great off-season having picked up a number of players both new and experienced! However, with any end to a season there are always those that decide it's time to move on. Let's look at the movements that have happened thus far...
IFWFC's line up has been bolstered by recruits from West Adelaide and Port Adelaide and picked up some solid new-comers to the competition.
Fiona Clancey, Michelle O'Brien (Chook) and Alana Browne have made the move from City Mazda to Rowe Park and the Ingle Farm ladies could not be more excited! All having donned the state colours at some point in their career, Clancey is an 8-time leading goal kicker in the SAWFL competition adding some much needed support to the Ingle Farm forward line, Chook has been runner-up Dutschke Medallist on quite a few occassions and is a welcome addition to Ingle Farm's ruck rotations and Browney is an absolute work horse on the field, a ball getter, cleareance player and team player, constantly providing the bumps and shepherds for her teammates.
Courtney Plowman has made the move across from Port Adelaide where the team has had to break for the 2014 season in hope to rebuild for a strong 2015. Courtney is an under age state player and a great communicator, slotting right in to to the Ingle Farm team. Unfortunately Courtney injured her knee at the very first training she came out to - we are all anxiously awaiting the verdict of the injury which should be known by late April.
Molly Nichols-Pavy, Rianna Lee, Nicole Turner and Kayla Gepp will debut in season 2014.
Another ex-basketballer, 6-foot-something Molly is one to look out for this season having demolished the boys during a trial game. Molly is a unit and once she remembers she can actually tackle she should have opposition teams shaking in their boots!
Rianna has been a consistent trainer, is not afraid to get in and under and with her skills improving every session watch this space - after a few games under her belt Rianna is expected to grow in leaps and bounds.
Nicole Turner (aka Canada!) trained with the Bulldogs on a few occassions last year but has signed up and is ready to roar. With a booming kick, Canada is only still learning the ins and outs of the game, having grown up outside of Aus, but we're all a little excited at how far she's come in such a short time and how much she wants to learn...
Kayla Gepp is neice to former player Kelly Josephson and at only 16 years of age is not afraid to get her hands dirty. A hard runner and worker, Kayla has a natural talent and feel for the game and we feel Kayla could just very well be the future of IFWFC.
While the excitement is building with the new recruits and with the season so close we can feel it, we are also sad to see a few of our past players decide to hang up the boots...
Kelly Josephson's on-and-off field antics will be missed dearly but Joey's knees need a break and with work and family committments taking over Joey made the decision to step down. We are hoping that Joey's voice will still be heard from the sidelines.
She may not be "feeling it" (playing that is) at the moment but Rachel Toohey is still keen to be involved as a runner, as our newest #1 fan and will still be seen at times on the training track. Rach has mentioned she may get itchy feet and decide to put the boots on again - all of us are hoping those feet get nice and itchy soon Rach!!
Karen Ryan missed the majority of the 2013 season with a wrist injury but her new job and family must take priority. Karen's boys play at Ingle Farm so we are sure to see her around the club!
The IFWFC thank all players above for their commitment to the team over the years and hope you will still cheer us on loudly and proudly!
