Presidents Report - Kylie Coen - October 12th 2012

PRESIDENTS UPDATE OCTOBER 2012

WELCOME TO SUMMER SEASON 2012/13

Thanks to all those who came along to Presentation Night and an extra big thank you, on behalf of the club, to Angela Di Paolo who organised the night.

As parents with boys playing in the club, you would have noticed already Danni Andros has kindly taken on the role of Boys Coordinator to support Brenna Barrett. It is a difficult and time consuming role especially at the time of season roll over and I know from experience having two people really helps especially with efficiency in communication. Brenna and Danni along with Michael Follacchio as the Girls Coordinator have given up a huge amount of their time to organise our teams, coaches, training and systems up running for the start of the season.

Jo Di Virgilo has been behind the scenes ensuring we are delivering on our EDJBA commitments and the sorting of compats and getting our data up to date. It is not an easy task to meet the many conflicting needs of coaches and players with overlapping commitments. The behind the scenes work really makes a difference to an enjoyable and more manageable season.

Bruno Marino represented MEBC at fixtures day over the holidays. This is necessary to ensure MEBC team fixtures for Round 1 and 2 are as per the compats. Thanks Bruno.

Anna Brown and Gretta Paterson have been fabulous in sorting coaches’ bags and uniforms and have been available at the stadium on both training nights and during the registration period to assist many families in getting kitted up for the upcoming season.

As I mentioned at Presentation Night all our committee members are volunteers. Many of the bigger clubs have paid administrators to do all the tasks that the committee undertake. This is reflected in our more economical registration fees.   So a big thanks to all our committee members for their work over the “break” to have us ready to play on Saturday.

Going forward, our priority is coaching development and with additional teams this season we have struggled to fill all our coaching positions particularly on the boys side as that was where we had the biggest increase in numbers. So please consider your contribution to the club and where possible we would like to encourage Assistant Coaches to sit with the Coach on the bench to learn and develop skills to be prepared to take on their own team in the future.

We will be looking to support our coaches with training and mentoring opportunities so we encourage you to put your hand up when these opportunities become available to develop skills in this area.

We will also be holding a learning to score session in the coming weeks on a Monday and Thursday at training. So watch this space for times and dates. At least one parent from each family needs to know how to score and will be rostered on to undertake this task. If you don’t know how, sit on the bench with someone who does as it’s never too late to learn.

GOOD LUCK FOR SATURDAY       GO EAGLES!!!!
