Yo-Get-It Auskick Report:
On Friday, the Cubs learnt about teamwork. They did a couple of drills which were quite foreign to them, but they stated to understand what teamwork was all about. Saturday, was their last Auskick match and the crowd really got behind the Cubs, cheering every mark, kick and goal. This Friday night is the last session for 2015.
The Netball All 4 Pets Report:
The Yarras would like to thank Jessica Buerckner for establishing the Club’s inaugural netball team and then being team manger. She had a lot of support from the other players, including Rhona Chapman as captain and then later as coach and Julia McPhee as captain. The Committee appreciate the enormous help that the Netballers have provided at the club with all functions, game day and now Jessica, Alex O'Halloran and Carly-Lee Garlick have joined the committee to help grow the club. We all hope you rejoin in 2016 and go one step further.
The Thirds Tower Hotel Report:
The Thirds played Dandenong for the fourth time this year. The Redlegs were out to make a difference from the previous results with a win. The Yarras got off to a good start with Maconachie and Bertone scoring goals. The Yarras had a nine point lead at quarter-time. The Redlegs out ran the Yarras in the later three-quarters. The Yarras were strangled by the Redlegs defence and the Yarras were flat-footed. The Yarras only managed to score a further two points for the remainder of the game. Dallas was very disappointed at the post game media conference with much to say, none of it being complimentary to how the Yarras played. Ash Evans was a standout for the Yarras as he continued to run. The Yarras lost by 45 points. Despite the loss, the Yarras are locked into third position and they will play Sandown in a fortnight in the qualifying final.
The Reserves Bendigo Bank Report:
The Reserves played the fifth placed Ashwood whom needed a win to stay within the top five for a place in the finals. The Yarras started well, kicking the first two goals within the first six minutes of the game. The Yarras were up by 20 points at the conclusion of the first quarter. The Magpies started the second quarter with a goal, but then it was all one way traffic as the Yarras kicked 5 unanswered goals to be 46 points up at the major break. ‘Twas a high scoring third quarter whereby both teams registered 38 points apiece. Lange's left foot got a hammering, kicking 8 goals. S. Jewell was fantastic up forward kicking five goals. Strelec punched everything in the ruck. Sharpley kicked three. Phillips kicked two. W.Smith managed to kick a goal whilst his brother was found under every pack. Higgins was a force not to be reckoned with as he went on a rampage collecting disposals at will. The Yarras won; 22-11-143 to 11-5-71. The Yarras are on top of the ladder, one win and 68.86% ahead of second place.
The Seniors Brady Tiling Report:
The Seniors needed a win to stay within the hunt for the finals. However it was not to be a as the Magpies opened up with a 50 point lead at the first break. The Magpies kicked 12 unanswered goals until Pane got his hands on the footy after 47 minutes had elapsed in the game, Pane kicked two goals within 2 minutes to register the Yarras first and second goals. The Magpies had a 66 point lead at the major break. Mendes opened the third term with a goal but the Yarras were down by 82 at the final break. Buckets kicked the final goal of the day to bring the margin under the ugly 100 point range. Final scores 128 to 32. The Yarras cannot change their position on the ladder making it the second year in a row they finish the season in seventh place on the ladder.
