Working with Children checks now required
WORKING WITH CHILDREN REGISTRATION
In 2015 Tasmania is undergoing a new legal requirement for people who work with children. We are the last State to undertake this process.
The Registration to Work with vulnerable People Act 2013 aims to protect children from harm by providing a high standard of compulsory background checking for anyone in child-related work or volunteering in Tasmania. It does not matter whether the role is paid or unpaid, supervised or unsupervised.
Like all sporting organisations the Clarence Junior Football Club is required to meet the needs of the act.
We have recognised that the following people in our organisation must Register -
All Members of the Board/Committee, Coaches, Assistant Coaches, and volunteers who are involved directly with our players every week.
All applicants will need to complete online registration. This is the only way that it can be done www.justice.tas.gov.au/RegistrationForm.aspx.
In the section that requests "Position" - they are required to write "Coach" etc.
The contact name will be Rachel Barnes. Email email@example.com
the "start date" refers to their start date. I suggest that you put 1/04/2013 (or the year they first coached.)
The Club’s address is, PO BOX 75 Rosny Park TAS 7018
Once the on-line registration is complete you will be given a registration #
You then need to take this # to Service Tasmania, with your ID and have your photo taken.
The cost is $17.76 and lasts for 3 years. The cost will be covered by the Club. (Keep your receipt and we will reimburse you on Registration Day)
It is important to understand that this is a Government requirement that all organisations that work with children must abide by.
We have been advised that it may take up to 6 weeks before you receive your actual ID card. Therefore we would like to ask all volunteers who know that they are going to be coaching with the Clarence Junior Football Club in 2015 to undertake this process asap.
After 1/04/15 unregistered individuals cannot perform their duties until the registration has been processed. There are big fines involved. $7000.00 to club and $2000.00 individuals for non-compliance.
So simply – please go and get your registration. We really appreciate your getting this done sooner rather than later!
