WORKING WITH CHILDREN REGISTRATION
In 2015 Tasmania is undergoing a new legal requirement for people who work with children. We are the last State to undertake this process.
The Registration to Work with vulnerable People Act 2013 aims to protect children from harm by providing a high standard of compulsory background checking for anyone in child-related work or volunteering in Tasmania. It does not matter whether the role is paid or unpaid, supervised or unsupervised.
Like all sporting organisations the Kingborough Tigers Football Club is required to meet the needs of the Act.
We have recognised that the following people in our organisation must Register -
All Members of the Board/Committee, Coaches, Assistant Coaches, and volunteers who are involved directly with our players every week (Team Managers and First Aid personnel)
All applicants will need to complete online registration. This is the only way that it can be done http://www.justice.tas.gov.au/working_with_children/application
In the section that requests "Position" - they are required to write "Coach" etc.
The contact name will be Ben Harrison. Email kingboroughtigersfc@gmail.com The "start date" refers to your start date. I suggest that you put 1/01/2016.
The Club’s address is PO BOX 183, KINGSTON 7051
Once the on-line registration is complete you will be given a registration number. you will then need to take this number to Service Tasmania, with your identification and have your photo taken.
The cost is $17.76 and lasts for 3 years. The cost will be covered by the Club. (Keep your receipt and we will reimburse you)
It is important to understand that this is a Government requirement that all organisations that work with children must abide by.
We have been advised that it may take up to 6 weeks before you receive your actual ID card. So if you know you will have a role which requires this registration please apply as soon as possible.
After 1/04/15 unregistered individuals cannot perform their duties until the registration has been processed. There are big fines involved. $7000.00 to club and $2000.00 individuals for non-compliance.
If you have any questions or concerns please contact Ben Harrison on 0418338355.
